Such excellent photos - much to my horror I realize I haven't used mine often - will have to remedy that!

I don't know if the K version should be in with the Ai or not, but:

Absolutely incredible images! The pictures of the horses especially show the quality of this wonderful lens. While no one has mentioned it, this lens is also the lens used to take the legendary "Aftgan Girl" photograph. Very good lens that I hope to acquire soon.

It seems to be a great lens.

Horses pictures are very sharp and contrasty.
Rolf's pictures show very good 3D abilities.

Ai you say ?
So I could mount it on my 5D. Oh no, one more lens on the wish list... Twisted Evil

Yes, mine is Ai version. It delivers good/very good detail at f/2.5, bitingly sharp images at it's sweet spot of f/4 to f/5.6, still at f/8 excellent and "only" very good at f/11. You can download horse pictures in original size for evaluation here:

This is a classic Nikkor lens, usually available for EUR 100-150 and delivers performance which is excellent even on largest DSLR sensors. One of the top 10 must have lenses in my opinion, I doubt you can buy as many lines per millimeter with this little money

Beautiful photos everyone in this thread. The lens is a masterpiece (I had it for almost 20 years).

One of the first photos taken with my nikkor-p 105mm after being dug out of storage where it has been for at least 20 years...it WILL NOT go back into storage.

I've recently acquired the AIS version of this lens, which does really well even wide open.
