Yep, and the hair next to his left ear is sharp too. I have the FL 55mm f/1.2 and your lens's big brother, the 85mm f/1.2 Aspherical, and I love what they do with DOF when wide open. _________________ Michael

+1
I like when I'm surprised by a picture, such as here.
First glance on the left eye and immediatly caught by the right eye's sharpness. Hairs are also greatly sharp in focus. _________________ Olivier - Moderator

If you can keep it, you should. A few years from new, that lens will still be very valuable, whereas a few years from now the notebook computer your wife wants will have very little value. I have made the mistake more than once -- selling something with high intrinsic value to buy or upgrade computer gear. And once the computer gear is essentially worthless, then I always realize it wasn't a particularly good idea, even though it seemed like it at the time.
I just remembered -- I have a question: is your 55/1.2 the "plain" SSC or the SSC Aspherical?
If the latter, then I would partially agree with Orio that the 55/1.2 Aspherical is one of Canon's two best lenses, the other being the 85mm f/1.2 SSC Aspherical. _________________ Michael

Mine without "aspherical", I wonder how good is the aspherical one....
There's other reason I' selling this lens. Humidity in my town is really crazy these days, most of my lenses has fungus. My repairman said that his customer complain this too. Even lens stored in dry box has fungus!
Right now I have to reduce my lenses. Geez the fungus make me panic... _________________ nex5, Olympus EPM1, yashica half 14, Canon eos 650 want to see samples of mine? please click My lenses
