Fuji FinePix X100: large-format compact + Biogon-type lens

It wasn't mentioned in the dpreview article, but the Fuji FinePix X100 will feature similar sensor-microlenses, like Leica, which are corrected for skewed light-rays...

this feature is necessary for usage of non-retrofocal classic-styled wide-angle lense, like their 23/2.0...

...which really lookes like a Biogon-type lens

If Fuji won't screw up the design, it could be very nice extremely low-distorsion and low-CA lens Smile

I'm really happy to see that at least one manufacturer used common sense instead of silly marketing and didn't couple its mirror-less camera with retrofocal lens...

That looks great! I hope their mount will be compatible with M lens unlike Samsung.

There is no mount, it's a compact (or at least, so I understand)

It does look very nice, but the viewfinder and lcd are a bit smaller / lower spec that i'd like, and the price will probably be too much for me =(

This camera looks really sexy. If Fuji makes an interchangeable one....

And is that MTF real or calculated? It's better than even the ZM 35/2!

Time to start saving!

But I reckon that a cam that goes for US$1000 in the States will be around €1200,- here in Germany. That's what it's usually like.

Unfortunately, that's so true !
Even more, sometimes.
1000 $ in the US = 1000 € in europe... Confused

The only reason is because you, over the pond, are richer than us.
No more whining, you can afford it.

That's because in the USA don't have the VAT, only a state tax that is much lower than a VAT
This is ideal for commerce and makes both buyers and sellers happy.
But in USA they also don't have the welfare that we in Europe have.
So I choose to pay VAT and have benefits of good welfare for everyone. Rolling Eyes
Taxes are good, really, if someone just gets to view a bit beyond his self.
It's the inequality that is not good (people with low income paying proportionally more taxes than rich people). That is where we have to work on.

Exactly. And don't forget our endemic problem where many people don't pay taxes at all, or pay ridiculous amounts compared to what they really earn. I wish the IRS had an Italian branch office with full powers.

Why is called 'large format'?

In US if corporation tax breaks were eliminated government would make more money even if people pay no tax. Now people pay tax on income and tax on items bought, argh!

Yes, that's part of the problem. Low income people are usually employees, who have a fixed controllable income.
Rich people is people with work like lawyer, dentist, etc. which can easily find ways not to declare to the state the real money that they earn.
I mean, in the last public tax reports, there were lawyers in my province that declared to earn less than what I earn as a employee! Laughing

But don't think it's just an Italian problem. Here it's bad, and probably the worst, but I read the EU figures some time ago and we're not alone in tax evasion.
