The lens model is "172 D" and the photos were taken with a Sony DSLR A700. I bought this lens fairly cheap-and not having much information about it- it has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.

They are not bad.. the later series is the best.. the 100-300mm is none too shabby either. I got the 'Promaster' version (sold by Ritz as their own brand) and have been amazed at some of the shots, especially in good light..
My 75-300s (I have the Pentax version, The Nikon version and the Canon version) all show a bit of CA in high contrast scenes but otherwise are pretty sharp with reasonable contrast and good colour.

They look good, second shot is my favourite I also have this lens and in high contrast shots it does produce CA (purple fringing) but this is easily removed post processing _________________ Gareth

I bought this model as a basic AF tele lens for my Pentax and it's been quite decent. Certainly much better than the price would suggest. I didn't buy it blind, as I'd seen good results from it beforehand. _________________ Dave - Moderator
