The lens model is "172 D" and the photos were taken with a Sony DSLR A700. I bought this lens fairly cheap-and not having much information about it- it has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise.

They are not bad.. the later series is the best.. the 100-300mm is none too shabby either. I got the 'Promaster' version (sold by Ritz as their own brand) and have been amazed at some of the shots, especially in good light..

My 75-300s (I have the Pentax version, The Nikon version and the Canon version) all show a bit of CA in high contrast scenes but otherwise are pretty sharp with reasonable contrast and good colour.

They look good, second shot is my favourite Wink I also have this lens and in high contrast shots it does produce CA (purple fringing) but this is easily removed post processing Wink

Nice pictures.
Is possible to buy this one somewhere? I'm looking for something like this for one friend and his D70.

Thank you all- for an economy lens I love what this can do. I has good reach, is light and capable of macro zoom .

Davidus: I bought mine on ebay for very cheap, as an experiment. It must be a good copy if theres such a thing. I hope you find a good one for your friend.

I bought this model as a basic AF tele lens for my Pentax and it's been quite decent. Certainly much better than the price would suggest. I didn't buy it blind, as I'd seen good results from it beforehand.
