Not the best shot ever, but in a split-second it had potential Smile

I was ready and still the little beast was to fast.

Olympus E-P1
Tair 300mm (M42)

Better, but no action Sad

Perhaps with a very good AF lens. Laughing Laughing Laughing *duckandcover*

Great shots! And this with the Tair, kind of unpleasant to focus.

Not easy .. you were lucky and smart. As Carsten said this is pretty AF territory Embarassed

In the last photo AF would have hit the branches in front of the squirrel; MF is the only possibility there.

(In general I agree that AF is easier for catching these fast little critters. =)

I don't think so. With AF it would have been a struggle not to get the branches in focus instead of the squirrel.

BTW very nice pictures!

I'm with Carsten on this one.
My 50D on AI Servo + center focal point hooked to 70-200 it's incredibly fast on freezing motion. Unbeatable.

First of all, it was a joke, guys.
I agree to Orio that the branches and twigs would have disturbed the AF, but for a free view, AF would have been better indeed.

Nice shots, a pitty for the first one, but hey, try another 1,000 times, and you will have one decent one, don't you think? Very Happy
