If you can't get the ORF any more, German television (ZDF,ARD) is also showing these races. I think Eurosport as well (not sure about that).

Cheers
Tobias

Wow !

Tobias, Nice report.

Younch frenchies are not going too bad this year, boys and girls.

"Allez France". Laughing

Excellent shots, Tobias! My home area doesn't have slopes that compare
to this, but they do make me homesick. I'm not a big Redford fan, but
one of my fave films is "Downhill Racer".

Yeah Olivier, they're doing very well this year. I like the skiing-style of Lizaru very much ... this kind of "no risk no fun" skiing Wink
The French fan-groups at the race were great. I had cheese-vondue with some french people during the race Wink

I haven't heared about that movie, ... maybe because I am not a Redford-fan neither Wink
... but I will have a look at it.

Cheers
Tobias

Tobbs, if I remember, the movie came out in 1969. I remember taking a
date to it from college, must have been Christmas 1969, maybe 1970.
Worthwhile, I think you'd like it. I was a fan of Camilla Sparv back then,
lol, but I'm sure my date was there for Redford. Wink

hehe, ... you just made me thinking about something: I remember those films better when I had a date with it. Strange, isn't it ... because actually I wasn't too interested in the film Laughing

by the way, ... just remember the first movie I was watching with my now wife. It was one of this very cheesy bad Redford films wich she showed me: "the horeswisperer" (she's quite a horse-fanatic). a perfect film for a date Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I remember a Neureuther skier many years ago, in the 70s, when I was a child and was following ski races on the TV. Don't remember his first name, I remember he was a slalom specialist though. Still have in mind his races against Gustav Thoeni and Piero Gros.
Is this current Neureuther, any relative?

PostPosted: Mon Jan 25, 2010 11:29 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Yes, Orio. Felix is his son. His father won the race in Kitzbühel too. Quite an emotional moment, he told that on an interview after he won.

Cheers
Tobias

I think the movie was the first time you had the POV of the skier, there
was a special camera designed equipped with sound. You could see the
shovel tips, hear the metal edges digging into the snow as he paralleled
through the gates, it was awesome! Well at least back then it was and
just a scary thought, it was 40 years ago! Shocked Yeah, I took several
dates back then to Redford movies, "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance
Kid" and a real oinker, "Little Fauss and Big Halsey"... Laughing

hehe, and were your dates successful ?

@kuaan
I had a special place to shoot the photographs from the slalom. I know the family which has the farmhouse next to the ski-run (they actually own the "Ganslernhang"). I was shooting from their balcony. the pano was shot from their garden Wink

Very fun set Smile
Nice to see some snow in the mountains.
I was in Vancuver BC over the last Weekend and there is no snow at the close to town ski parks and also no new at Whistle in some time.
Cypress will need to have snow trucked in for the snowboarding events to be held there.
It's a festive atmosphere in town however.
