Won a Carl Zeiss Triotar F4 (early post war I think, exakta mount) for 10$ from him. Shipping was more expensive though, at 60$ for express. Ok no big deal, still a relatively a good deal I think and I get the lens faster.
So I win the lens on the 24th of July, send two emails to see if the lens was shipped out, no answers.
11 days go by, still no answers so I open a dispute with paypal and surprise he replies right away claiming family emergency, Ok fair enough but during that time he was listing other items. Anyway...
He ships it the next day. I ask for the tracking number again no answers to my email.
10 days later I receive the lens. A big paper envelope shipped via first class airmail with 5$ of postage, one of the cheapest way for shipping from the US), never even thought it was the lens.
To add to the insult, the only thing protecting the lens was 2-3 layers of the cheap small bubble wrap of another envelope.
Plus it looks like he marked down the value of the lens at 60$ luckily I didn't have to pay any customs fees.
So my question to you guys, is there anyway to get back some of that shipping money back? Since I basically got ripped off on that and I doubt he will reply to my emails. He said 60$ for express and he paid 5$ to ship it. Add another 10$ (being generous) for shipping supply and handling. Any way of seeing any of that 45$ back?
Then lens itself is nice, was opened up and cleaned since I can see what appears to be cleaning marks on the inside , not even going to be bother with them and the focus ring is a bit stiff. No big deal, still takes really lovely images. _________________

Wow, I'm kind of shocked! I think I even smell blood lust in the forum. I read this situation very differently.
I never buy if feedback shows a suspect pattern or there are any other indications of faulty integrity. I would buy from pkinca. After a purchase I always asume truthfulness, and always give a seller the benfit of the doubt. Given the vagaries of shipping services, I always wait until only 3 days short of (what is it?) ebaY 45 day dispute filing window, before pulling the trigger on that; I've only pulled it once in over 500 buys. I came close only one other time; the local post office found the package fallen behind something with only one more day left to file.
Perhaps there really was/is a family emergency. Perhaps stuck in a hospital (s)he at last had to get someone else to mail it for her/him. With more pressing thoughts than ebaY occupying the mind, and embarassment after having heard how the lens got packed and shipped, they could not figure out how to reply to your emails for tracking number; sometimes the truth is hard to tell too. With computer brought to fill time waiting in hospital, lists some items. Could be almost any reasonable scenario, really.
In this case, I would simply write the seller about the difference in listed and actual shipping, and ask for a partial refund, to see what is said, before even considering filing a complaint. A seller with integrity will refund the difference, as they were expecting to blow the extra $55 on a different ship method anyway, no matter if they were expecting to sell for more, and/or they really really need the money. _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Im usually the same way, first time I had problems as a buyer in 100+ items bought.
What made me pull the trigger was that he had no problems replying to emails before I paid him. After I paid him, nothing whatsoever. Yet he was posting and buying new items. Possibly they were scheduled listings , but I doubt that since he is a small seller.

Yes of course I will contact him before filling a dispute. Hopefully like you said it's only an honest mistake with using someone else to ship items for him and he forgot to give that person details on the shipping method. _________________

Leave the guy a negative feedback.
I just dont understand why you would agree to such a high shipping rate. I would have told the guy to TOSS OFF! Then I would have posted his outrageous shipping fees here for all to see.
I always confront a seller when I think he has inflated the price, be it shipping or just list price.

I was fine with the shipping cost because of the low cost of the item. My max bid was 10$ and I won with 9,50$, so I didn't mind paying a little extra for faster service.
So got my first reply.
" I have flat rate for my item because a hire someone to do all my ebay listing and shipping and packaging. They have a business shipping account and make there money getting best rate. IF your not happy, you can return the lens and I will paypal your money back. Thanks"
Ahm...ok first problem it wasn't a flat rate since I was told it was express mail. Second problem, I'd be out of 20$ or so to send it back with delivery confirmation. _________________

Got another reply.
"Hello..
Sorry, if there was any misunderstanding. I spoke to my shipping person and was told that it depend on what part of a Country it is shipped to. Often it is better to ship priority or express.
We have had never any problems with damage or an item not arriving. In this case it did not matter, just a little more expensive to ship express.
You got yourself a great rare lens from a private collection. Enjoy the lens. Sorry, for any bad feelings.
Thanks"
Now English is not my first language so maybe I am not reading this right. But the way I understand it , because items arrive safely to their destination either way they decided to not ship via express and make more money from the sale. And that since I got a nice rare lens I should keep quiet and get on with my life.
I sent another email hinting at a partial refund. We'll see where that goes. _________________

That seems to be what he's suggesting alright.
Okay, so you got a "great rare lens from a private collection" - whoopee with whipped cream on it...it's not your fault you won it at that price.
In fact, you got a pretty good deal at that win price and congratulations on your success
Seems like the seller maybe thinks that he should have got a lot more money for that lens, and decided to make a few bucks out of you with this extortionate shipping cost. Which is wrong.
Well, he's certainly getting his moments of fame here at MFlenses - I hope that somebody has pointed out this thread to him _________________

Hmmm. Looking at his buyers' ratings for his post and packing charges, it seems he's generally a bit overpriced. If he'd stitched up everybody for $60 for a $5 cost (even a $10~15 cost, including packing materials and time) he'd have some real negs, so it's not a thing he does blatantly every time.
This time around, he's gone too far, in my opinion and needs his ass kicked.

This time around, he's gone too far, in my opinion and needs his ass kicked.
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=pkincal&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller
In fact, looking at his range of stuff for sale and his BIN prices, he's an overpriced greedy sod. |
When I bought my lens there was a few other lenses that were sold for cheap too. None have posted feedback so far.
There is now a negative, 250$ lens posted in a paper envelope too I think. And he did the same for the shipping charges, charged 50$ and he paid 11$.
Looks like he doesn't want to answer my last email where I mentioned the word refund in it, . Looks like i'll have to go the paypal claim way. :S _________________

The option is available via the "Report item" link on active items (not ended), in the "Reason for report" dropdown as part of "Listing violations (..., excessive shipping, ...)" _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Yea, took a while but I am glad its over now. And looks like his rating is still dropping and I think it would drop more soon with all the buyers that haven't left feedback yet will start posting.
Off topic but does anyone know where I can find a hood for this lens? No name brand would be fine, preferably a metal one. _________________

G'day all...,
Yeah I have had the same problem with pkincal making up stories, when presented with an official complaint through the claims process of Ebay.
I won an auction for a Leaf Digital camera back, and paid up all that was asked for, including the US$100 US Post Priority International Postage.
And was then e-mailed back by the aforementioned offender(Rare),
that I had not paid enough postage.I had sent another e-mail back confirming that the order details did say I had paid the "at sale postage"for the correct amount. Never heard from since!Have kept on leaving messages to pkincal's inbox, and will continue to.!!
Anyway, just warning anyone that this scammer is out to money grab as much as possible....
Cheers Atholl3 |
