I think that those nice colors are more from the lens than the 40D
Those pastel colors are perfect for nature shots
I have enjoyed such nice Nikon colors thanks to Patrick great shots

The colors are exactly as seen, not tweaked at all. I googled "Box Elder seeds">images and they have that reddish cast in early spring. Later they turn all light green.

Yes, the Nikkor-Nikon lenses amaze me also. They do seem to be a great match for Canon bodies.
