I got this lens in mint state - not really surprising as it was made in 94 !

Today morning was sunny with full blue sky and sleet everywhere !

Some test shots f@3.5, no post-processing at all - just unrawtized (click for full capture) :

At first glance for me it's an updated Jupiter-11A, results are very nices.
I have to do some deeply side-by-side comparisons to show up differences.

Isn't the Jupiter-37 always "AM" but not often "MC" ?

No, MC means (obviously) multicoated, while A is for the M42 thread mount and M is for "Modern", the way the makers of the lens wanted to signify that this is a second version of the lens (where the changes seem to be, however, only aesthetical).

There are four versions of Jupiter-37:

Jupiter-37A
Jupiter-37AM
MC Jupiter-37A
MC Jupiter-37AM

I have all four of them Smile

I was trying to say that I see more often J-37AM than MC J-37AM...

It might also be the strike of Italian truck drivers. Wink
Orio's Kaleinar has not arrived at my place either and the German post is still running well at the moment. Just got a national parcel within two days.

Do you feel the consequences of the strike, Orio? Petrol, food, water?

Might be... although as far as I know, the Italian Post uses the train for all surface transportation.

Yes, in part. No gasoline. Food is no problem here in the countryside because we have many little shops and many of them gather the vegetables, meat, milk and fruits directly from the producers.
A little revenge over the big supermarkets Smile
Situation was critical in the big cities. Food was nearly finished and water started to be scarce. Gasoline was finished immediately the day after the strike started.

That'd be all the panic buyers and hoarders. Stupid people are their own worst enemies. Last time there was a petrol truckers' strike in the UK, people were sitting in massive queues to simply top up (not totally fill up) their tanks and one stupid goit was storing petrol in a plastic wheelie bin round the back of his house. Of course, the supermarket shelves were empty of bread and milk almost at once in some areas as all the greedy gits made sure they were OK.

Yes. I bought only 20 Euros on Tuesday, because I figured in this emergency everyone should restrain ourselves, but almost everyone else was filling their tanks.

So I guess if I have a MC Jupiter-37A there's no real gain by buying a new 37-AM?

MC - it means Multicoated.
Letter A in ALL of Russian lens means that it has interchangable bayonet mount with Tamron T2 modules. So, you can by the changing to make your lens adaptable for the Pentax or Nikon bayonet.
M - means that it`s modern production

There was 5 variants
Jupiter - 37 (very rare)
Jupiter 37A
Jupiter-37AM
MC Jupiter-37A
MC Jupiter-37AM

This lens is produced in USSR under licensing from Carl Zeiss and optical absolutly identical with CZJ Sonnar 135/3.5. Lenses are so simillary, that is possible to interchange the glass elements in they. Be carefull then you buy a CZJ. Wink

not so sure about this.. i have a jupiter-37 AM and a CZ Jena Sonnar 135 3.5 and the jupiter definitely has a larger front element.. or maybe the retaining ring on the CZJ is making its front element look smaller..
