I picked up a Vemar 600mm f/8 lens on Ebay for $99. I couldn't find any information on this lens online except for some flickr photos supposedly taken with one. Anyway, the seller (a TN camera store) said it was a T-mount and promised to include an adapter (which ended up being M42 anyway). It is neither. It is closer to 48mm. It is threaded on the inside and out.
Does anyone know what kind of a mount this is? Can I adapt it to Nikon F-mount?

huge guy!, put your Nikon body to there and look what you can reach if you can use at least almost infinity you can think about adaptation.
I think it will produce crappy pictures so better to test in this way before spend your money for adaptation if required machine work. _________________ -------------------------------

This 300m lens is from the same era (and manufacturer?) as tele-tokina and vemar lenses.
The camera adapter for these lenses looks like a T2 adapter, but it has larger diameter threads for mounting on the lens. I have Tokina/Vemar adapters for Nikon and SR (Minolta), came with the vemar lenses. _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out. I was beginning to wonder if there was a missing piece for this lens. |

Thanks for the examples !
Tokina indeed, and a good warning for people who are chasing the old Tokinas. Not all of them are T2 !
A suggestion for an adapter - obviously it is going to be difficult to find the right Tokina mount for this extremely nice 600mm, which really does deserve a good try.
A suggestion for a put-together mount -
49mm-48mm step-down ring - see here
http://camerafilters.com/pages/rings3.aspx
This gives you a male 49mm thread, if it fits. Yes, the pitch will possibly be off, but dont screw it too tightly.
Add a 49F-49F ring, as here -
http://camerafilters.com/pages/macrorings.aspx
And then a Nikon or whatever mount reverse adapter to 49mm; if all you can find are 52mm, add a 49-52 step-up ring. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |

That's got to be it -- it is a Tokina and requires the specific 47mm adapter. Anyone know where to find one? I'd rather not do too much adapting if possible. |

BTW... the adapter that was included with the lens looks identical to the one in the pictures above, but the threading on the plastic insert is M42 instead of Tokina-SR. |
