I have another picture processed in the same style as my new avatar, I call it Vanilla Girl Smile I wish I did not cut her hand off the frame while photographing though Rolling Eyes Laughing ... oh well... these are the inconvenients of shooting a group session with a prime lens (you can not move and you can't pull back the zoom Rolling Eyes Laughing )

I don't embed the picture because it's a nude, so open only if you have no moral objections:

No, no moral prejudice here. Bring some more Very Happy
I've always liked your ( sic) girls.
The vanilla girl is a bit soft to my taste. I know you wanted it like that.
More that that, it's sepia ( part of it) which usually is asociated with ancient times. It would work but it's somehow contradictory with that belly button ring.
My 2 sous.

I like the toning, it gives a soft and warm feeling. Well done! I have never made nude photos (I don't mean that I, the photographer, was nude Wink) so I cannot rely on my experiences here.

But, if this was my picture, I would have changed two things.

1. Somehow her belly roundings gives me the false impression that she's pregnant. I also don't like her belly button piercing. What I would have done to get rid of that impression and the piercing: crop the picture to directly above the piercing. I've tried myself and it looks better, what do you think?

2. Get rid of those shadows on the background. On my monitor the shadows can be clearly seen (for instance the shadow of the right arm). And on your monitor? I've had this before with another photo: a member from another forum claimed that he could not see anything in the background, to him everything was white. However, on my monitor the shadow was very clear.

Just IMHO of course. I know zero about nude photography so please bear with me Smile

BTW: what's wrong with the [NUDITY] tag? I don't mind artistic nudes here, and it's even explicitly allowed. Wink

Thank you for the feedback, guys!

I explain my choices: in other pictures of this session, I have cloned off the belly piercings, because I did not like them. In this picture however, they felt to me like providing a point of interest in the lower half of the photo, and that graphically (in fact this is not anymore photo, but graphics), they could work. I also thought that a bit of contrast between the old style and this contemporary element could add a little spice (as I was not after an imitation of a past picture, rather, a contemporary quotation, if you like).

With regards to the yellow background, yes, it's there, it's the tinted shadows. In the normal photos, I bleached the shadows white, because they did not look good to me. Here, however, they look vanilla, and they sort of blend the subject into vanilla sauce Laughing, which I found it fit the subject, and also, it would give some interest to an otherwise full flat background.

As for the belly, I like girls with some fat around the curves Wink

Well, of course, "to everyone his own" - I just wanted to explain the why of my choices Smile
But it's always interesting reading your criticism, please keep it coming as there is always something to learn, and it helps me to see what of my photos "passes through" the communication, and what does not.

I like it and the hand cut off doesn't bother me. I think it works quite well.

Was it a model you know? Just reshoot it if she's not an expensive pro.

Nicely done Orio.

I agree, ít's much more female with beautiful curves.

The hand cut off is fine, because you did not cut it off just before her wrist. And sometimes you have to cut.

Her piercing is working as a small point of interest, that's fine for me.

The only thing I have to get used to is the toneality, but since you call it Vanilla Girl, that's okay for me.
Perhaps I miss some gloss/highlights in her hair.

hi guys
too expensive to hire alone, but I hope there will be another occasion with the group. Smile

I very much appreciate the warning. I looked anyway because I knew it would not be pornographic (the subject of nudes is a delicate one because of my faith). What bothers me is the odd hair color. Was that PP, or is the color hers? It somehow does not fit ...

I did not add any colour to the hair, and I did not shift any hue, or luminosity. I only played with the saturation channels.
You need to keep in mind, this image post-work is not meant to be photo realistic; the colours must blend like in a graphic work. So the global colour harmony takes priority over the realism.

I figured that. So the dye has a strange, strong aura. Interesting.

Moral objections? It was my moral obligation to click on the link. Laughing I like
it and of course, beautiful model certainly adds to interest quotient. I find
your treatment/workflow to be very successful in this, well done!

The aura, like I explained, is the shadow cast by the model. The model was inside a shooting box, which is a small box (about 2x2 meters perimeter) made of bricks with walls painted white, and, of course, one side open, to shoot through.
They did not set an upper light pointed to the wall (which is usually used in this situation), so the front lights did cast shadows on the walls.
Since the model was naked, and her skin was of a fair golden orange colour, and her hair was tinted in a quite dense yellow orange dye, hence why the shadows took the yellow-orange tint.
See the model in a non processed photo:

Once the exposure is raised, the dark part comes off, and it only remains the colour tint. Pretty much what the Impressionists did with their way to paint shadows, if you think of it.
So no mystical aura there Wink just optical physics. Wink

Wow! Thanks for the explanation. And such an odd posing set-up you describe, almost like the model is in a zoo.

Bill: gotta watch the thought life!

You want to "see" something provocative, read the Song of Solomon in the Old Testament. Of course, it is an ode to his wife, but Solomon's words paint an evocative and provocative "photo" of the woman he loved. Interpreting the Song photographically would be quite an interesting project ...

The box serves for diffusing lights over shadows by reflection.
It has the same function as the panel reflectors. Less comfortable than panels, but with the added possibility for the model to use the walls as posing tool, like in this other image:

(warning, also nude)

Wow, I really like the one you link to. The softness looks so nice on the picture. Normally I don´t like this kind of softness but here it is perfect.

Very beautiful picture.

When the light is right don't worry about the lens.

Didn't find anywhere how you took these photos?

In a photographic studio in Bologna. Continuous lighiting.
The lens used for the nude photos was the Elmarit-R 90.

No, sorry, I don't know the specs, but they looked quite cheap.
I'm on the market too for a couple good ones.

I really like this Orio, it reminds me of the old air-brush coloration that was done to black and white pics in the 1950s and before.

It's a good style. My mother did that kind of retouching.
