I'm now up to episode 107 of S16, but they keep on making new episodes so I wonder if I'll ever catch up! _________________ https://simonforsterphotographic.co.uk/

To make it worse, Simon said he was interviewing on his tod. That's my favourite style of photography podcast, grr... Ben Smith (A small voice) and Ibarionex Perello (The candid frame) are two I try not to miss. I just listened to Perello interviewing Guy Webster. It was a chunk of pure Americana. |

I was amazed at how quickly the time went, it was a good wide ranging chat I had with Cheyenne. We've postponed the second coming of Cheyenne for a couple weeks as time zones are playing havoc with getting more than two of us together at the same time. It was an option for doing another one on one, but I feel that the conversation will be stilted, so I plan to take a back seat when we get Cheyenne back next time. _________________ https://simonforsterphotographic.co.uk/

I enjoyed that episode. I like the 'desert island lenses' section. But did you have to start with an unashamed Nikon fanboy? Lucky it was Mistry, as that guy could sell coal to Newcastle. I found myself nodding in agreement and have never set eyes on these lenses. I was also with him on the film/digital discussion. Sorry Simon.
And on the subject of soft focus portraits, Anil will no doubt know that he is in very good company. A great exponent of soft focus portraits was Julia Margaret Cameron, who, along with David Wynfield, virtually invented the style of shallow depth of focus for portraits that we see today so ubiquitously. So they knew a thing or two about portrait photography, and preferred soft, not sharp.
Cheers guys. |

Always enjoy hearing Anil speak, and you get the best from him each time.
Thank you all.
Agree with Anil on the funky little Industar. I have the Industar 50 and like it a lot
Also I appreciate the reference links added after each show
Well done |

Wait 'till they start providing on-board simulated ASA speed grain with each film sim! Then next stop is lens simulations The 5 year old Fuji I have already has some steps towards that built in I have noticed. Onboard Barrel, pincushion and colour shading.

Maybe I can help. If the great unwashed were introduced to lens simulations, there would no doubt be an explosion in people wanting to try/own the real things, no? Time to nest away a few classics?

A link to Cheyenne's piece on Capa's 'D' Day landing shots would be great if you can manage it . The idea that the 'bungled processing' was phony has blown my mind a bit . I'd love to see any references Cheyenne might have. |

I'll ask Cheyenne for a Capa link, and he get's mixed up with the name of the photographer regarding the Polaroid story, the correct name is Andre Kertesz.

That was an excellent read. Thanks. I have no idea how this all passed me by.
If I can return the favour, and if you've not read it, the solving of the mystery surrounding Roger Fenton's famous 1855 'Valley of the shadow of death' image is a good read. Played out in the pages of the New York Times, it reminds me very much of how the Capa story developed and concluded.

I also watched Blunty and his Russian lenses. I remember there was a genuine sense of excitement from him. I've just had something similar after receiving my first collapsible lens. I've absolutely fallen in love with it. And now I want to try them all. There's always something new... umm, old to discover
And I have to go find out what a 'zoomer' is. I missed the manufacturers name, but anything that looks like it should have been in Metropolis, is worth hunting down for a look-see. |
