I'm stepping out on a limb to say the 105 looks made by Tokyo Koki...

I bet that will be a good lens, the glass looks clear. it's a nice focal length and speed, and it's well used. Someone has used that lens a lot. Post some pictures from it it Raay, I'd love to see how it performs, me being a Soligor fan Cool

@visualopsins--its most certainly made by Tokina
@Lloydy--glass is nearly scratchless Surprised ,initial tests are quite promising ,wil try some shots tomorrow and post here, from what i hve tested its not tack sharp wide open but F4 onwards quite quite good!!! more test shots are necessary

I like that, it's a great image. Old glass, even cheap glass, doesn't mean poor images. I like the bokeh from that lens a lot, it's not distracting.

PostPosted: Fri Jun 21, 2013 5:27 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

yeah the bokeh is pleasent!! i think i overdid the sharpening ,but even unsharpened image was good!!!!

Anybody familiar with this one? Weird "Dualfocal" 85 OR 135mm, so not a zoomlens.... it came with a Pentax camera, i haven't used it yet..... i don't see the point, it's just f/4.

Btw: just bought a set, and it contains the early Tokina 5.5/300 branded as Soligor (M42). It will arrive next week, that one i'm looking forward to use, i've seen some nice pics made with it!

What can you tell me about this one?
Just got it today, it's quite lite for 300mm and comes in exakta mount

I'm not sure whether I will receive gold shovel medal for quoting and commenting such old post but as:
1) I've bought my copy based on opinion posted here (Thanks!)
2) I'm just cleaning it
I have to report that it is simplest optical construction possible - achromatic doublet. Plus very modular full metal yet light and simple build. First test shots show that it is very sharp wide open with no CA. I'm very happy with it as I've bought it for 20 eur + 10 eur for t2->m42 adapter. All in all I highly recommend it.

Here is my Soligor 300mm, probably Tokina as well?!?

Serial is: H64295

I believe this Twin Soligor is quite rare. I haven't seen this lens more than one time.
Definitive a Tamron made lens, the brother of dual/ twin Tamron.

I got this leaflet/brochure yesterday and thought it might be of interest.
I'm guessing it's late 60's.
It came in the bag of a Praktica mat/pancolar that I bought and the manual for that camera is 1967.
It may be that this is somewhere on the forum already but I did a search and nothing came up.
I scanned it at 72dpi but the quality doesn't seem that great. If anybody wants a more detailed scan then let me know.

Yes please, I'd love to see a decent scan of that. I've got a few of those lenses and haven't seen this brochure before.

Really useful, thanks! So the really long lenses were simple doublets... Shocked

PostPosted: Wed Jun 26, 2013 5:24 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Not that surprising, considering Tair-3 is a triplet and a really good lens at 300mm. It seems for long teles more elements are needed not for correction, but for making the lens shorter. Those long Soligors are really long pipes...

std's 300/6.9 lens is certainly made by Taisei Kogaku, AKA Tamron, in the very early 1960's
It is well documented in the adaptall-2 site.
I have a few others in this series but the 300/6.9 is still not in my collection. It is apparently quite uncommon. Tamron seems to have had a very cheap line of teles - 200/6.3, 300/6.9 and 400/7.5 and also a 400/8 among their other offerings.

Nordentro's Twin Soligor is also a Tamron, and I think fairly uncommon in Soligor brand though much more easily found in other brands, such as Tamron(this is probably the first lens branded as a Tamron) and Spectra. Versions are seen in Zebra, Alu and all-black finish, and with the focal length given as 135mm or 140mm. Same lens, just differently marked. I have had several of all versions.

The 300/5.5 preset is certainly a Tokyo Koki/Tokina, as it has been seen in both the Minetar and Tele-Tokina markings. Minetar was another Tokyo Koki house brand.

Thank you Braddaman ! That catalog is a real find.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 26, 2013 5:54 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

BTW, That catalog shows at least four different manufacturers, and possibly more.

Tokina
Tamron
Kawakami/Kawanon
Sun (chrome ears presets seem to have been ID'ed as Sun)

The 35/3.5 preset seems to be the last version of the well-known model by Kyoei. I have had several versions.
Since several other lenses here are definitively Kawanon, I believe its because the fate of Kyoei was to turn into Kawanon at some point in the 1960's. Some known Kyoei lenses turned up labelled as Kawanon in later years.

The 500/5 is very interesting and rare. I have no idea who made that.

I've just had a look through my box of old brochures (collected from various camera purchases) and have found one for Auto Miranda Lenses from I think 1971.
As the previous Soligor brochure had a Miranda camera and as they are connected (rear says "A division of AiC Photo Inc) do you think this brochure is relevant, rarely seen or useful under this thread?
Here's the inside front page from a six page brochure.

PostPosted: Wed Jun 26, 2013 6:51 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Its most certainly relevant, but you may want to include it on another thread. There certainly are a lot of Miranda collectors here.
The Miranda lenses were interesting in many ways.

Better, I think the admins should include your docs in the stickies.

AIC (Allied Impex Co.) owned and used the Soligor brand, and they also owned the Japanese Miranda company outright.
Some of the Miranda lenses were also seen as Soligor branded lenses. I can see one right there on the back row, the 200/3.5 auto lens made by Tokina that was also sold as a Soligor, with T4 interchangable mount. This photo seems to show a fixed mount version for Miranda.

The rest of this range of Mirandas (at least on the cover photo) was not sold as Soligors that I know of. The maker was apparently Kowa, and they were exclusive to Miranda I think. The mounts for these are those with the external aperture linkage lever used for the Miranda Sensorex and Automex.

The lenses shown (I am guessing) are -
25mm/2.8
28mm/2.8
35mm/2.8
105mm/2.8
135mm/3.5
135mm/2.8
180mm/3.5

I have them all but the most interesting one the 25mm

More Tamrons I guess Wink

PostPosted: Wed Jun 26, 2013 8:21 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

Yes, most certainly Tamrons.
The 135/3.5 actually has the same interchangable mount as the 135/4.5, which seems to have been a model for the T-mount.
