Andy sent me the SMC Pentax-M 1.7/50 lens some time ago, and I
decided to test both a camera I got off the bay and his lens:

Ricoh XR-10M:

at f5.6, a little soft and no tripod:

and three wide open at f1.7:

Using expired (2002) Kodak Gold 200 film

I must say I really like the results. There's still no substitute for color film! Digital is great, but I really miss the exposure latitude of film... Crying or Very sad

Thanks, Spotmatic, the camera was only $25 off the bay and takes 4
alkaline (only) AA batteries. Really like the comfortable grip for the right
hand and shutter release placement.

Yep, I still like film, too. Wink

Bill, I love the trumpet picture!
It is very dynamic.
Trumpets have been photographed a thousand of times and making a photo of a trumpet look fresh, is very difficult. You managed to do that, so congratulations!

Orio, Attila, and Shad309, thanks for your comments. The overhead
fluorescent lights in my small office/shop weren't helping matters with
the highly reflective metal, but oh well. Another good find off ebay proved
to be very good for $11 including shipping:

These are from the Ricoh FF-90, a 35mm point and shoot with a sharp
Rikenon 2.8/35 fixed focal length lens. Takes two alkaline AA batteries
and has motorized film advance (a little noisy but fast) and the meter
seems to work quite well. 2nd shot was converted to BW in Bibble, as
I was chasing the dwindling light by walking very fast to the west and there wasn't that much color info, anyway.

I think it is one of mine, too, Carsten!

Thanks again, Andy! Smile
