Hi,
bought this morning a Tamron SP lens (BBAR MC 4-4.5/28-135mm) for small money mainly because there were 2 adapters with the lens - one Tamron to Nikon and Tamron to Pentax PK. So I thought that the adapters will be worth the money.
Now my questions. Are the 2 - 3 (only very) very good lenses out of this series which I can look for in the future ? Your recommendations are much appreciate.
Thanks in advance.

Look here for comprehensive list of AD2 serie lenses and worth noting that Tamron to DSLR adapters in many cases will fit both Adaptall and Adaptall 2 as they would only function manually anyway!

Hello Rolf
Of the seven or so tamron lenses that I have , I would say that the 90 macro and 500 mirror (BB) are the ones
that I would look for. These are very capable and produce very good images. |

Cheap as chips too as it was apparently "the UK's best selling zoom" according to the box.
If you can pick one up with an adapter you can resell it and it will more than likely cover your costs. _________________

The 28-70 was cheap and I wasn't expecting anything with it, but it's fair to good. The 300 is sharp, light but loads of CA (not an issue as I use it on B&W film). _________________ Casual attendance these days |

I think it's a reflection from the big flat rear glass. Not a problem with film, only with shiny digital sensor. |

Was a problem sometimes with APS-C Canon XT 350D, but not a big problem on FF Canon 5D -- on FF the 'spot' is larger than the 24x36mm frame, causes loss of contrast, but only appears when there is a bright light source within the frame. On APS-C however, the spot seems more 'focused', is most evident with bright light source within frame. I saw a photo someplace illustrating spot very well, of shaded lamp...that should be easy to reproduce with APS-C camera (sold mine!). _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Hi!
I have lots of these lenses. The ones I find myself using time and again, for various reasons (mentioned below) are as follows:
SP #26A 35-210mm f3.5-4.2-32 875g
Very underrated lens. Less bulky than #23A, though this one's macro function is harder to use. Very useful focal range for m43 cameras. Produces good images apart from annoying PF in certain circumstances.
SP #23A 60-300mm f3.8-5.4-32 870g
A little long and bulky, but super sharp. Makes very good images and has surprisingly usable macro functionality, goes to to 1:1.55 at 60mm.
SP #01A 35-80mm f2.8-3.8-32 386g (corrected aperture values, thanks to LucisPictor)
Good all-around lens, light and with notably excellent macro functionality. Goes to 1:2.5 at 80mm. Surprisingly sharp, good handling, with very moderate weight. A bit flare-prone.
SP #52BB 90mm f2.5-32 420g
Very good dedicated macro lens. Super-sharp. Goes to 1:2 without extension tube, and 1:1 with model #18F extension tube.
SP #30A 80-200mm f2.8-32 1359g
Superlative lens, amazing build quality and feel. Constant f2.8 across zoom range. Only problem is that it's really heavy, and really expensive. Great for video, on a tripod.
#17A 35-70mm f3.5-32 330g
Very inexpensive, small, light, smooth handling. Constant f3.5 across zoom range. Excellent sharpness and clarity if you stop down to f5.6 or so. Great walk-around lens if there's enough light. Continuous focus into macro of 1:2.8 at 70mm.
#20A/20AB 70-150mm f3.5-32 459g
Very inexpensive, smooth handling, truly tiny for a telephoto of such range. Stated constant f3.5 across zoom range is really f4. Good sharpness and clarity if you stop down to f6.3 or so. Great walk-around lens if there's enough light. Continuous focus into macro of 1:3 at 150mm going to 1:7 at 70mm.
Cheers! _________________ --Glasslover

The ones I can recommend are:
90mm 2.5
180mm 2.5
35-210: very underrated, hence you can get it cheap. Performs well so far on my 5D. It has a nice macro function as well, although it is not that easy to use. |

SP #01A 35-80mm f3.8-4.8-32 386g
Good all-around lens, light and with notably excellent macro functionality. Goes to 1:2.5 at 80mm. Surprisingly sharp, good handling, with very moderate weight. A bit flare-prone.

Sorry to correct you, but the 01A offers max. apertures f2.8-3.8. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!
