For me this is fantastic news.
I have always loved Russian lenses and the way that they render.
Now I have the opportunity to buy new and at very competitive prices it seems.
This makes me very happy to see...
Ok so now how do we go about placing orders and getting the lenses out to us manual lens addicts? Smile Very Happy

I hope to hell it's decent optically, because I may well forgo my intended Samyang 14mm for that in M42. I need to find some example shots.

Metalluga, You seem to know a fair bit about these. Do You work for, or are associated with the company? How would I go about ordering this in the UK?

2 shots from my Mir 20 on my 1DIII, the color is great, there is some CA when shooting WO, it does get better stopped down, the lens was well used, newer versions could be better.

right, at this store the Mir 47 f2.5/20 sells and has been selling for less than 200 USD:

The f3.5 is not offered now, it used to be more expensive, but if I remember right 249 usd?

I would like to own a copy myself!

It's off topic, but I see a lot of CA/PF from the mir. More samples in another thread?

That's not to bad for express.

Does anyone know of a reliable Escrow service that will deal with this?

This is actually not that surprising news, if they have continued producing Cyclops all this time.

This is not a Cyclops, this is Helios. In Cyclops same optical design, but no a drive aperture, Cyclops can shoot only open aperture.

Someone will be able to visit the exhibition PHOTOKINA - 2012 it is likely that there will be shown under the Helios 40-2 bayonet EF, F, K.

Great news for me - and I think for most manual lens lover!

I visit the Photokina this weekend. And I love to see all the interessting new things there. The new Zenit/KMZ lenses are very interessting. I do not plan to buy one - I already have a Helios 40.
Now let´s see if the new lens is the same - and what price drop result this get for the old Helios 40-2 (do not plan to sell mine).

And I wait how long it will take until someone will produce a Meyer Trioplan 100 bokeh copy Smile

Yes I know. I meant that if the optical lenses are even somewhat same, then production could be much easier to start again?

edit: "optical lenses" Smile

Wow prices of used Helios 40-2 will drop like crazy on ebay. It's $260 before discount and it's brand new. Why would anyone buy used ones at $400? I'm I didn't win my auction on Helios 40-2 couple months ago.

Can count me for a Group buy too. Providing it has good IQ and the same rendering as older versions.

Helios-40-2 of the same quality materials if produced today would have price of at least 750 EUR. Minimum.

I think the production cost will be much expensive than the old date. Let's see if the final price is attractive to us. Wink

Metalluga, you should send a link to this thread to the factory management. I would suspect they could double their sales by selling internationally, but they would need to get the word out.

PS: Word got out on other forums too: http://www.mu-43.com/f40/russian-lens-production-starts-up-again-33267/

It's an estimate. Imagine Samyang with thicker, solid materials and whole different production process.
