There were so many incredible photos..I chose these three as my favorites. Thanks to all for posting. I will go back and rate them once I have the requisite amount of posts.
Each of these three are telling me a story of the person; a very interesting one which holds my attention. I, often in my life, would paint portraits of women. There is an essence and mystery within women, for me, and I would often spend more than 100 hours on each painting. I could paint from these photos, and enjoy every minute.
This first one of the young girl; there is an honesty in her gaze; untarnished yet from the world. The light creates a soft palette of color on her face. The background blur has the tone of an underpainting...quite lovely.

This second photo is masterful. The light streaming in could well have been harsh and blown out, but it is not; it is controlled and softened and seems to wrap around the beautiful woman. The dark beads and her dark eyes have a harmony together within all of that light. And she is telling a story...of what it is to be her, standing in that light in that moment. Bravo, Orio!

You might have come across the review I wrote a couple days ago about an old Sigma 300mm. It flares and ghosts a LOT, but I thought I might be able to use this as a "soft focus" feature in portraits. I was somewhat successful.
I was able to knock down the haze by adding some contrast to the image, and left enough for the soft-focus look. Only problem was, as I increased contrast, I was getting a burn-out spot on her nose.
A favorite old slide of mine. Canon F-1, FD 200mm f/2.8, Kodachrome 64.
