In the meantime, here's a lens variation that's not described in Gerjan van Oosten's book:





As you can see this is in fact a Super-Takumar. If you compare it with the other variation on page 123 of Gerjan's book, there are the following differences:

- The lens has 1/2 stops marked as dots between the diaphragm values;
- The lines marking the depth of field are angled instead of straight;
- No "ft/m" engraved to the left of the distance scale;
- Distance markings in white/red (usually: yellow/blue).

Nothing earth-shattering though Smile

was this a very early example of this Auto(super)-Takumar? I have a copy of the much more common version, but I have never seen this one before. very neat.

Nice, very rare indeed! You only see these once a year or so. I've never had one of those, but I had new replacement top and bottom plates for it (for the AP too). In what condition is the paint of your K?

It will cost me approximatively 45€, with a Domiplan 50/2.8, an Hanimex flash and a Tamron X2 teleconverter. The body has not been tested, so I'm not sure it is working, and the paint is not in e very good condition ( Click here to see on Ebay ) but I could not let a black K go at this price Laughing

For rare pieces like this, my general mind is not to obtain a mint piece, but to obtain it, it's all. Here I have a black K, and I can pay a professionnal repairing, and still cost me a good price Very Happy And if one day I grab a mint one, I can sell this body, it's juste a matter of time and luck Razz

I always look for mint pieces. so I end up paying more than most people. but every once in a while I get a good deal. I got my macro-takumar (preset) for 250 USD. it is mint, and I do mean mint. all original packaging, paperwork, etc. it had never been mounted, still in its plastic wrapping. I have 5 lenses now that I purchased in this condition.

As I use my lenses (ok, some are not very used like the 18/11, 24/3.5 or 55/1.Cool, I d'ont need an absolutely mint lens. For me, it would be "useless" to buy a lens unopened in its box (unless I pay it peanuts Razz ) because my collection is also my source of lenses for photography Smile But if I can have a near new lens, at good price, I take it Razz
Now I have many lenses with very, very few using marks: (18/11, 20/4.5, 35/2, 35/3.5, 85/1.8, 120/2.8, 135/2.5, 150/4 and 300/4 are really close to be new, and I have the original box of the S-M-C 135/2.5 Smile (also boxed Auto Takumar 85/1.8 but lens isn't in good condition)

it would actually be more correct to mount it to a pre-spotmatic body. the lens was released in '62 the spotmatic wasn't released till '64. I could mount it to my SV, but truth be told I prefer my MX over every body I have. and the MX just fits so well with Takumars, being so small. only downside to the MX is that its not an m42 body.
