http://www.dpreview.com/news/0808/08080501microfourthirds.asp but no optical viewfinder Sad (nor simple, nor rangefinder)
Maybe the flange distance will allow infinity focusing (and mounting) with RF lenses (M39-LTM and M bayonet).

Certainly looks possible. Smile
A potentially affordable way to use my CV lenses with digital? We'll see. Confused

Reading more, I saw it has a flange distance of 20mm vs. LTM (28.8mm) and M (27.8mm).
Yes, will see.

It seems that M bayonet lenses could not be mounted. Both Micro4/3 and M have the same diameter: 44mm.
Still, L39/LTM lenses could be used.

And of course any SLR lens (Canon FD and Minolta MD for example, and many others - Fuji-X, Konica, etc....................... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lens_mount#List_of_lens_mounts ).

I'd just wish to be able to mount the old Contax RF lenses like the SOnnar 50/1.5. Then it'd be a very interesting system.

Damn, at 20mm it's just too long for C-mount and there's a lot of really nice glass in C-mount. Mind you, with no mirror in the way, the C-mount lens might be able to be recessed into the body.

I think this is an exciting announcement. Of course we'll have to wait for them to announce a camera before we really know anything. I think micro 4/3 cameras will essentially be point & shoot cameras with a 4/3 chip and interchangable lenses. High-end P&S cameras like the Canon G9 seem to be popular, and I imagine a micro 4/3 camera would be a good fit for that market.

On other forums I have seen posters complain that a micro 4/3 camera would have poor image quality compared to APS and full frame digital
SLR's. But I think that's missing the point. Micro 4/3 should have much better image quality than the 1/1.7" and 1/2.5" chips in most point & shoot cameras.

The 20mm flange distance does mean most 35mm SLR and rangefinder lenses could probably be mounted on a micro 4/3 camera. But will there be a way to focus them? I imagine you would have to use the camera's focus confirmation or focus using live view. Does anyone have experience using either method with a MF lens?

All the days with the Oly e410 I focus with live view x10 when I need perfect focus.
