Sorry to continue this tangent; I recently sold an SPii to Eeyore_nl and his finding was the same as mine in that the meter was correct with a silver oxide battery. I can only assume that either not all SPiis had the same circuitry or that this camera had been converted.

i am not sure which prism comes w the camera i purchased as i have not as yet received it. will post when it arrives, probably sometime soon!

Istr, the SP2 had a different metering circuit and could accomodate the later batteries.
