hi all, it's been some time since i last posted in the forum i've been a bit busy lately.. Anyway i'm looking for old flashes you may not want any more (i need two or three) for a "hobby project" of mine (not related to photography). i'm going to put detectors in airsoft matches so that when people trip them they're flashed. So, if you have flashes for sale (cheap, like 10€), i'd be glad to buy them -they don't have to be particularly "good" or powerful, they just need to work. I also have some stuff you may want to exchange like a Mir-1V and a Yashica DSB 1.9/50.

Hi, curious how you are going to trip them, I am thinking about Inra red project.

I'm going to use a light detector to detect dawn at night (well that won't trip a flash but a rocket or a firecracker), another light detector that does the opposite (detect when there's no light), coupled with a laser that will trip when anyone crosses the laser, and finally one of the so-called PIR sensors (these use infrared), the ones they use inside buildings to detect movement and trip alarms. I've made a small circuit with a relay that closes the relay (tripping the flash) when the sensors detect something.

Such things can have unintended consequences, depending on application.
Pre-digital age, a bloke I knew set up a triggered flash and hidden camera in his vehicle workshop to take a pic of intruders.
One night it went off and captured a pic of some thieves - the thieves then set about wrecking the place to try and find the camera, with no success, so they set fire to the building. Sad
Stupid fools didn't even manage that right, as the fire was put out before the camera was destroyed, and there they were, on film. Smile

By the way, I think I need no more flashes for now, I'm getting 3 from poolhall and 3 from farside. This forum is amazing in just a couple of days i found all the flashes I needed!
