Some times it's better to stop down for a better bokeh... specially when you have 15 iris blades...Or what do you think?

Nice ones, Jupiter-9 shows some talent! What version do you have it ? If black try to hunt down an old silver that is a super nice lens too.

It's a black one from year '72, I believe.

You have latest type lens, people generally believe the best version. I think silver at least this good , they are nice in pairs.

That's the latest? really? I thought it was this model (attached image from rugift, not mine) or is my lens generally the same lens in a different kind of barrel? Smile

I simply love 8#... great atmosphere Smile

The second one is the MC [Multicoated] version.

Is mc the better version really or the results of both are the same [ assuming hood usage with the simple version]

You have a good eye for the light and the subject/motif.
No. 9 (10) is my favorite.

I know 5 versions of SLR Jupiter-9:

1. silver KMZ (M39)
2. silver LZOS (M39)
3. black, bumpy focusing ring
4. black, notched focusing ring
5. black, notched focusing ring, MC

The lens consists of two cemented triplets. These triplets are very difficult to manufacture accurately. Manufacturing precision and testing of the triplets are important for quality of the lens. Production was focused on quality only at the beginning and later the main priority was volume. The newer version, the higher possibility to get a lemon copy.

I have three SLR versions: 2, 3 and 4. #2 is really good copy. At f/2 it's almost as sharp in centre as Helios 40-2 85/1.5 and even sharper in borders. But the #3 is not good - left part of the image is pretty unsharp. #4 waits for testing.

But it's still better to find a good copy of #3, than #4 or #5. I know a few people, which bought several copies of MC and got only lemons...

Very nice shots.

Does anybody else see that grim dogface in the tree - #7? Laughing

Thanks for the info no-X!

Haven't really studied if my version is a lemon or not. Got it cheap locally, so I went for it... it is somewhat dreamy wide-open, but not as much some samples in the web show.

Here's one F2 100% crop (defaults in ACR)
