Seconded - that's a really useful list. I came across something similar on a Russian site, but with auto-translation it was hard to make out exactly what was what.
There is a 44M-2? I have never seen it . As I know, there are these versions:

44M-7 MC (50/30), 6 blades - 1993, JOV, superb sharpness esp. corners
JOV means Jupiter Optics Valdaj

I would reccomend 44-2, 44-3 or the later ones (44M-6 MC, 44M-7 MC, if your camera accepts them)
44M-7 MC as sharp as contax 1,7 ?

This is taken from another forum - border resolution:

44M-7 seems to be a really excellent lens, but it's mechanism for f-number transfer kills it.

As Always, excelent. Great example. Thanks, very much.

Both are impressive, very sharp.

And...it seem to me that HM6 is sharper than HM7, or contrastier, or both. Don't you?

I like result of 44M-7 more. It looks more natural to me - there is a visible halo around the right part of lower 0 in the 44M-6 image. That could indicate some kind of sharpening, which is not applied to 44M-7 image - maybe some kind of in-camera "clever" sharpening effect...(?)

Anyway, both of them were produced by Jupiter Optics Valdai, so I would expect 7 to be better.
