will be on sale from Feb/28 2009 (KA mount will be from March/2009).

Maybe.

And FUJI will produce new film too, and new MF Range-finder will
have 6x6 option too on top of the original 6x7 format.

Definitely.

Woohoo!! I have had a google alert running on Voigtlander for 6 months now with no whisper of this.

And after I ordered an AI kit to convert my Nikkor 20mm f/4, too. Well, it will be interesting to see what this new lens is like.

Is it based on an existing older design?

マウント:Ai-s(CPU内蔵)
その他:別売り丸型ネジ式フード

My guesses edit: firmed up with google translate:
50mm filter? edit: Google translate says "Focal length: 50mm" presumably a typo.
94 degree picture angle (on full frame)
max aperture f/3.5
9 elements in 6 groups?
closest focus 0.2m (wow!)
9 aperture blades
weight 205g.
dimensions
filter size 52mm
AI-P (In Nikon designation, ie a CPU-enabled AIS)
no idea about the last line. Google translate says "Other: Food not included Round threaded". No food, bummer. Always like food with my lenses. Wait - hood, maybe?

Good morning,,, A good find, Chris. Very Happy

Yes, Hood (LH-20) is sold separately. 50mm is a typo, since FoV is
94 degree. 9 element 6 group optical design is nice simple one?!
MFD 20cm is quite a bonus.

The price is open, so I do not know how much at this point.

Addenda: Cosina's hood naming is similar to Nikon's.

HN-20 (H=Hood, N=Neji (japanese) = Screw (english), 20 = FL unlike Nikon's, that is a sequential number from 1)
The descriptions says, it is a round screw-in type. No price yet.

AI-P is just like 45/2.8P lens, CPU chip is installed but no AF. But luckily no G-type, which does not have aperture ring.
So this new 20mm lens has CPU and aperture ring, even D90 can work for AE-metering! Of course SL II line of lens!
(Mr. K seems not to like G-type Nikkors. Very Happy)

I had most of and loved all the Voigtlanders for my Pentax but have now gone to A900. This is the type of thing I miss the most. I wonder if they will ever produce some samples for the A-mount someday again (they made limited runs of VL125 lanthar for Minolta).

Does anyone know to what the 'color' in 'color skopar' refers? I have also seen 'color heliar'.

I know Heliar, Skopar single coated or perhaps non coated they designed for B&W.

When color film was born they produced coated or multi coated lenses called
Color-Skopar, Color-Heliar etc.

It is the denomination that voigtlander placed to the original design of skopar - at the beginning of the decade of 1950- to designate the models that had the correction for color and new (for this tiome) single coated.

They used in skopar for great format and the lenses of 50 mm F/3,5 and 2.8 skopar for 35 mm, as much in reflex bessamatics as ultramatics and for the RF (IE vitomatic, vito, etc.).

Marketing, I think.

Regards, Rino.

Yes, Attila is right (as usual).

Pan-Chromatic lens for B&W,
Pan-Color lens for Color photo.

I guess "Pan" is dropped to make shorter name....
Also "Pan" indicates the association to B&W photography,
so it was not used. (This is my WILD guess as usual.)

I have both Skopar and color-Skopar on folders, they don't have much difference on picture output , Skopar is a bit contrast less as usual any single or uncoated lens.

Color skopar is a single coated lens. In 35 mm, till the new cosina lenses, the time of skopars production was the single coated times. They, as the tessars, ektars, xenars, ysarexes, were the king of sharpness of the world, till 70's where with the MC they have written other history.

Rino.

The Color Skopar is now up on the Cosina website
Japanese
English

Here is a photo of the LH-20 hood

The Japanese one seems to have more information. Both have an optical diagram. The aspheric is the rear element, as it is with the Ultron.

The price of Color-Skopar 20/3.5 SLII is 55,000 yen, and its hood LH-20
is 2,000 yen. Yes, these are MSRP in japanese market. The price in US is
normally much cheaper.

I am going to Japan March, but not sure I buy it in its full price. Crying or Very sad

But it is a good news for wide angle lovers. Very Happy

The price in the UK is now known, Robert White has the details. £395 (plus VAT). Availability is said to be April.

For comparison they sell the 40mm f/2 at £315.

Good point, and given that Zeiss (also made by Cosina) now has ZE (EOS) as well as ZF and ZS presumably its possible to license and make an EOS lens.

although adapter may be a poss but at that price you'd think they would, how strange, maybe a 5d Mirror "issue" on the 20mm?

PostPosted: Tue Mar 10, 2009 5:57 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

wow, that 20mm is short for a retrofocus lens!

The only Cosina Voigtlander that was made for more than KA and F was the first run of the 125/2.5. Made also in limited quantity for Canon and Minolta MD (not useable with Alpha system).

As a Pentax shooter, I have used most of these fine lenses and some of the Zeiss manuals as well. The greatest reservation I had when switching to an A900, was selling all these lenses I had and knowing I'd likely never get to use them again. Bright side for you, at least with Eos you can use some of the Cosina Zeiss.
