Yes, the camera was produced in 1961, there is a QC signature from December 1961. The camera with the Helios lens was sold 16.01.1962, so it's very likely that the lens was produced in 1961 too. Industar-50 has QC seal dated 20.01.1962. _________________ Many lenses and some film bodies for sale here: http://forum.mflenses.com/canon-fd-minolta-md-c-mounts-m42-pentax-and-more-t50465.html

Below is the provenance for the Helios 44 (silver) in the above post...

Using a cyrillic alphabet and Google, ah got "passport" and the dates (ah think).
The right-hand one is for the lens - no. N°0071766. Am I correct in assuming that the lens and camera were both registered in January 1962, which would make the lens produced in 1961?
The other "passport" is for a Zenit 3 camera.
Thanks in advance |
The right side is a passport for Zenit 3 camera. The upper part says that the camera can be supplied with one of the following 3 lenses: Industar-50, Vega-1 and Helios-44. The S/N written against Helios-44 lens means that this specific sold camera was supplied with Helios. The camera was made in December, 1961 and sold on 16.01.62.
The left side is a passport for Industar-50 lens made at the very beginning of 1962, it passed a QA on 20.1.62. |

It flares very easily and with quite a nice blue/purple colour though, which makes photos look like they were taken with instagram. |

Hi Bmox.
ah think this falls into v1 category. One of my 44-2s begins N0056xxx, which is much earlier than No-X's last recorded numbers in his list, ah think it's simply pre-1970 but obviously produced early in the run. Mine's looks exactly like yours and identical to my black Helios 44.

OK, but it should be:
v1: sn "N000xx" - "N0xxx" (likely pre 1970)
Correct? |

Looking for info in this topik, I've just realised that you that you think it was me who posted it, but I just quoted the above post, because of anti spam limit
Well, now, I have a question. i've acquired a silver Helios 44 5,8cm red P with serial 50xxx and 13 blades... and I don't know in which category it enter... I was guessing the 5,8cm means quite early, but serial does not fit with this theory (It would be serial like 0xxx..). As I understood, only 0xxx had red P, focal in cm and 13 blades. What do u think?

The "5" at the start of the s/n likely means 1965. The year (in the 1960s) of production.

Hi TAo .
It's from KMZ factory.
About the 50, I agree with that, but I thought that Helios made in KMZ in 65 had focal in mm, and no red P. All my red P lenses were manufactured before 60. Also, only Helios with sn 000, 00 or 0 are supposed to have 13 blades, not the one with "normal" sn. So whatg is puzzling me is that reguarding to the marks and blades, sn should be with 000, not a normal one. Am I wrong?

Hi, another lurker here, couple of more data points in case they are useful:
I have two type 1.c (silver, "2/58", sn "N°0xxx" or "N°00xxx", 13 blades) lenses, serials are:
0168xxx
0235xxx
The latter one hopefully helps fill this hole in the data:
Quote: |
N°0226xxx - N°0244xxx -> silver, no data |
It is, however, quite beat up and has certainly been taken apart earlier, but I hope it's still a valid sample. It also has the script "Made in USSR" on the barrel, opposite the DOF scale, unlike the earlier lens.
I am guessing the earlier one might be from 1962/63, the later one perhaps from 1964, does this sound about right?
I also have an MMZ type 2.c (zebra, "2/58", sn "N°xxx" (e.g. 1970)), serial 8055xxx. I guess that makes it a 1968 then. |
