Minolta MC Rokkor-PG 50mm F1.4 is a nice but unnecessarily heavy fifty.

Minolta fans will crucify me for the following statement, but it's pretty much the same lens as later MD-III 50/1.4 featured above.
Grab a random picture out of the bunch produced by two, and good luck telling the difference without telltale signs.

Despite all the talk about the kinship with Rokkor-PG 58/1.2, the late plastic-fantastic MD-III has a marginally smoother bokeh.
I prefer the look of MD-III at F1.4 and Rokkor-PG at F2.

The difference is marginal though.

F1.4 with Rokkor comes with noticeable outlines:

F2 is better:

Color-Revuetar-S 85/2.8 projection lens with modified bokeh by placing a square aperture diaphragm inside the triplet.

Olympus OM-System Zuiko Auto-S 50mm F1.8 has a quite pleasing bokeh for close-ups.
Unfortunately it does not hold up well with distance.

Sometimes you just have to create some wild Bokeh. Nikkor 50mm f1.8 AIS Japan only lens. very sharp and corrected so it tends to not have smooth Bokeh.

This is the left side of a portrait , bubbles from Comparon 105 f4.5, not correctly adapted (yet) to M42 - it needed all the extension tubes plus the adapter and another 2cm tube to rich a portrait around 1.4 meters.

S'verry nice all the same Like 1 . It looks Christmassy Smile.

I don't know if you've been down the same road before, but I cured a similar problem by using that compact Asahi Pentax M42 bellows unit. The original single rail version. I'm guessing it's by accident, not design, but the base of the unit butts against the heel of my left hand in such a way that I can cup the whole set-up while focusing on a helicoid with finger and thumb. My right hand is free to do all the other bits and bobs. The whole thing feels better balanced. And they are dirt cheap.

I was kind of tired of cateyes , for now the komuras ,pentacon bokehmonster and this comparon have round bubbles on the edges , some of them on all apertures.
I've been looking for bellows as an option also, I assume downs really matter which one meantime is an M42 one for adapting easier the M39 . All these bellows go much cheaper that helicoid adapters , but I'm not sure the Bellow would work always, as they already have pretty thick closed section,so might not fit all lenses, in such cases would be interesting adapting the Bellow to the sony with a thin adapter no tubes.
