I'm not exactly sure what qualifies as a 'still life' photo, but will share a few that might.

Canon 50D with (Tokina) Vivitar 35mm 2.8 and #1 extension tube, in natural light.

Mmmmmm.............. How to you get them so sharp? Been trying all day with tripod, remote shutter release and lots of patience and still my shots are nowhere near as sharp as these Confused

If you're using a tripod and remote release then that should eliminate camera shake as possibly softening focus. Are you using a low shutter speed? If so, even a small breeze could result in the subject moving and looking less focused. Using a very narrow depth of field can give the illusion that something is out of focus if the focal point doesn't fall just where you want it to.

Make sure that you have adequate light so that you can keep your shutter speed up. Also, try different aperture settings to see if that makes a difference. If you're doing those things, and using a tripod, and can't get sharp images it could just be the lens you are using. Not all lenses are created equal.

By the way, I noticed that the posted picture does not look completely the same in Firefox compared to what you get when you click on it. So what's the best way to post pictures here? Does one have to crop to specific size/width/height/aspect ratio?

Back after a year.. with a little great lens..

This picture was taken with a Lens from an irreparable Canon DEMI EE Halfframe Cam.. adapted to SONY NEX 7

Did made an own solution for focussing this lens in a standard M39 > NEX Adaptor

This one was made with a very small lens.. a Meyer Optics Diaplan 4.5/55mm enlarger Lens.. on a VNEX Focussing System..



The lens has a length of !!! 24mm !!!

Thats the shortest lens i own..
