Good to see you Voytek Very Happy
That first capture is a lovely Composition.
A touch more DOF to bring the closest portion of the bridge in focus would really make it Pop.
I'm glad to see you shooting B+W's especially with weather like that.

The first one looks like a miniature Shocked Is that what you were trying to achieve? I love the tones in both.

Super B&W conversion. The "flatter" tonal range of the 1st one fits to the subject. #2 is my fave.

Cheers
Tobias

This is a photo of part of the Japanese Garden in Jackson Park Chicago. It was revived by local people about four decades ago after it was allowed to become overgrown and generally neglected. The building in the background is the Museum of Science and Industry, the only building left from the 1893 World's Fair. The only other Fair building that survived into the 20th Century was the Japanese Pavilion that was a "teahouse" type structure situated in the Japanese Garden on a small island. Local people burnt it to the ground December 8, 1941.

I live a block and a half from all of this on the other side of the Museum.

My wife was part of the group that revivified the garden as well as the surrounding "prairie" that makes up a large part of Jackson Park. 'Prairie' comes from a French word derived from Latin that means meadow. The point of work on the area as a prairie was to restore it to what it was before urbanization. That included controlled burns and reseeding it with native wildflowers among other techniques. The Japanese garden was revivified in another way by looking at original 1893 plans and advice from experts in such gardens.

The entire area looks very different in Spring through Fall seasons. If he hasn't before, Voytek may wish to revisit it in another season(s).

I have to agree with Mo-Fo....there is a delicacy of vision that you
possess, Voytek. I agree with Andy's critique on the first image,
the depth of field change would really make this image sing, even
more than it already does.

Most of these images are simply world-class to me. Shocked

What do you think?

I like it...but the broken line disturbs me,I love the reflection of the door light in the puddle.

Good series and conversions. I like #1 the best. The DOF let's the viewer concentrate on the bridge & foreground (or is the shorter DOF really just fog/haze?).

#2 looks like the camera is tilted a bit. I don't know if this was the intent? I appreciate it's a fairly wide lens used and I tend to do this just about every time when using an ultra-wide and have to correct in PP.
