There are plenty of examples showing these lenses perform exceeding well on Canon dSLRs, including the full-frame cameras! Wink

Doesn't it hit the mirror with a Canon FF camera? http://www.panoramaplanet.de/comp/

from what I read it does hit the mirror on 5D, but not on 5D II

I don't know that Mitch's photo has to be ultra crisp. It's a very nice photo, both easy to look at and visually pleasing, without capturing every microscopic skin crease and defect. I find it interesting how Kuuan and Mitch can use the same lens and achieve different but very good results. It speaks to their ability to use the lens as well as the lens' ability to be used differently by different people, which is a very good quality for a lens design to have.

Mitch's photo is gorgeous! love the softness on her face, don't get me wrong, I definitely also see sharpness, but the overall impression is softness due to the shallow dof. It is so very fitting to her expression, love the fleeting lines and softness of the oof areas too.
Makes me want to use this lens on a FF camera, time to get out one of my old film bodies Wink

Yes 5Dc mirror hits S-M-C at infinity focus. I also read okay on 5DII. The 5Dc mirror clears SMC version, no problem. My experience, I have both lenses.

Sorry, neither nice pictures from Asia, nor beautiful ladies. However, here are some shots from my newly cleaned (from fungus) 50mm f/1.4 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar. One of the great lenses of all time...

Camera used: Canon EOS 5D.

1. f/2.8

2. f/1.4

3. f/2.8

4. f/4

5. f/2

6. f/8

No need for Asia nor ladies. Peter you just take a lens, go out and take some photos and they all look more sharp, clear and with better colors than any of the few photos, of many I take, I dare to share here.

May i step in with a few samples?
50D and S-M-C Takumar, obviously.

I think this was at f/5.6
This is a useless picture but i am posting it to prove that S-M-C Tak is quite sharp (no post production here) .

100% crop from the center at 1.4

My sister at 1.4, shot with the aid of an LED strip lighting the kitchen. Focus is on her eyebrows though.

Sophie:

Taken at F/2.
Bit of postproduction, the "punch" preset in LR really helps making that curious face stand out.
