both look to perform really well, but Meyer has more interesting bokeh for my taste. However to judge better, it would be great to see more samples with both lenses Smile

Cheers

Thank you for comment. The Tomioka Macro Yashinon is one of the sharpest lens I have. It performs well even at 1:1, but it's excellent for normal use, too. I didn't prepare any direct comparasion, but it seems to me, that the lens is at least as sharp as S-M-C 50/1.4 or Pancolar 50/1.8. Lateral CA is zero, axial CA is extremely low and despite the ugly hexagonal iris, bokeh is almost unaffected.

The lens is based on 5/4 optical scheme, hybrid design (a bit similar to Biometar 80/2.8…), front optical block is close to double-gauss, rear is close to Sonnar...

The Helioplan is Triplet, similar to Trioplan 50/2.9, but it doesn't create the crazy rings in bokeh. Because of sharp centre and soft corners, it performes better on extension rings, when only optical center of the lens is used.

Great images!

Tomioka for vibrance and sharpness, Helioplan for bokeh.

Sorry, but a Helioplan it is a Dialyte design...
