Last weekend I went to a christian alternative festival called Freakstock, in Germany. I decided to use my Sony Nex-3 with only these Hexanon lenses:

- AR 28mm f/3.5;
- AR 40mm f/1.8;
- AR 50mm f/1.7;
- AR 50mm f/1.4;
- AR 85mm f/1.8, ;
- AR 100mm f/2.8.

I received the 28mm the day before I left and I didn't really check it. The focusing ring was loose, so I couldn't use it. The 100mm f/2.8 didn't add anything to the 85mm and isn't very special, so I used it only once. The 50mm f/1.4 was used for indoor/night pics, the 50mm f/1.7 during daytime, the 40mm f/1.8 for candid shots.

I didn't really use one of my Hexanons before, so it was a bit of a gamble to go there with only those lenses.

I preferred high ISO above wide apertures. The lenses were mostly used at f/2.8 (f/2.0 for the 50/1.4), some pics are ISO3200 or even ISO6400.

Hexanon no. 7 was the 38mm f/1.8 of my Konica Auto S3. The films will be developed next week (and then I'll see if the camera works or not).

All pics are clickable to see the full resolution.

50mm f/1.4 @ f/2.0:

50mm f/1.4 @ f/2.0 (I guess)

50mm f/1.4 @ f/2.0 (or wide open?)

85mm f/1.8 @ f/2.8. A personal favorite. Their parents gave me permission to publish this photo Smile

50mm f/1.7 @ f/2.8.

50 mm f/1.4 @ f/2.0 (I think). The 1.4 turned out to be a very decent lens for concerts Smile

One of the 50mm lenses @ full open or half a stop down. Too soft for a rock photo, but somehow I like the result

50mm f/1.4 @ full open. Very soft, but also very sharp.

This is the whole set:

Conclusion: Hexanons are nice lenses. Very usable characteristics (as opposed to, say, my Jupiter-9), good portrait capabilities, very sharp when stopped down.

Very interesting shots and nice to see other people using Hexanon lenses as I own a few myself and am always pleased with the results.

I used it's younger brother, the Minolta MD 50mm F1.4 for many pics in this set btw.

Beautiful series! I don't have the 50/1.7, but don't think I need it, either.
The 50/1.4, 40/1.8 covers it very well. This has really helped make up
my mind about the NEX. Thanks for posting!
