Guercio, I will be glad to donate, but first I need to know if it's safe to use with the 2.1.2 firmware.
I don't want to step back to 2.1.1 (don't even know if it's possible), because I want to use the fastest cards possible.

No, 2.1.2 it's not yet supported, as well as 50D won't boot ML if you have 1.0.9 on.

That's interesting stuff.
I'll give it a try with my 50D.

You'll notice video mode with canon graphics, another sign that video recording is totally legit on the 50D.
Canon probably didn't want to threaten 5DII sales.
Remember to use FW 1.0.8.

I have magic lantern for my T2i/550D. I really only got it to check the shutter count. I rarely use it otherwise. Then again since I got my 40D in February I rarely use my T2i any more. I did manage to get my shutter count on the T2i up to over 32000 in one year of ownership though. Is that too much? Laughing

Now ilguercio, I`ve came across a few posts on the photo forums regarding this feature and people say that it`s possible only tethered.
There are some new improvements over that?

Video mode?
That was made with that Eos Record which, in fact, took the LV frames and made a motion jpeg at 14-15 fps max.
Try it, you'll see that video mode IS inside our 50D.

Thanks, I`ll try it.

Woww ... thanks a lot Nikos.

I already knew ML months ago and already downloaded the installation files, but still has no guts to install it on my 5DII and 60D Smile

My 5DII firmware is still 2.0.8, so it's worth to try right?
By the way previously I read some problems in some forums such as camera black out or heating up. Did you experience such thing?

Canon answer for focus peaking feature (via Chuck Westfall) was very dissappointing.

Just skip to minute 6:38

I feel sad they still ignore us ...

A1ex could buy a 5DII for Christmas out of the many donations he has received in just 2 months.
I guess that pretty much shows how happy was the community with the work done by the main developer.
Wink
As for Canon, shame on them.

Could I install ML on 2.1.2 version? Could I downgrade to 2.0.8 version?

Thanks!

Downgrade to 2.1.1 and install the preview of Unified ML.
Or wait...

Is it possible to downgrade the camera? I don't think so it will be allowed.

I bet it is.
What happens if a firmware release contains a serious bug?
Let the professionals cry, in wait of an update?
This is very un-professional.

Why don't you try?
It will take 5 min.

Well, to begin with, I don't have 2.1.1, and it's not available anymore Rolling Eyes

you can downgrade http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Firmware_downgrade

when you donate, you will be redirect to a page with firmware hack and Canon firmware 2.1.1

even if you don't use liveview, they are interesting features like
- hdr bracketing: up to 9 frames by EV from 0.5 to 5 EV with possibilities to bracket the iso
- intervalometer: from 1 seconds to 480 minutes
- Bulb : up to 480 minutes
- remote : remote by audio with sensitivity (hand clap), lightning, motion detect, ...
- easier menu for mirror lockup and other settings
- possibilities to compare 2 pics in play mode
- exposure fusion up to 8 images to simulate and check hdr

and as it is open source we can hope for many upgrades in the future

I have the file.
I can upload it to a file server when I return home.

But I am sure you will find it if you search a bit.

In the ML site is the file; I've got installed ML on my 5D Mark II and I've tested focus peaking.

"Page not found" everywhere (at least on the legal Canon sites; I am not able to search the not so legal ones)

Here you are, then.
https://files.me.com/nkanellopoulos/f0nnaa

File size: 9.754.588 bytes

File checksum:
MD5 (5D200211.FIR) = 44ab2d69cb0ddfe8fc9f07543df1100a

Of course, you assume the responsibility in the EXTREMELY rare case the file is not transmitted correctly.
If you can, verify there checksum.

This is not a good idea.
The right move is to support this project.
They do not even have a limit for the donations...
Someone gives his free time for this.
Don't piss him off.
