Please correct me if i am wrong but these designs are close enough:

1. Planar T* 1.4/50mm

2. Prakticar 1.4/50mm

Nice serie which shows the great bluriness of those lenses, or rather say optical design Very Happy

Yes they are, of course. But since the Planar is the oldest lens design on earth, many lenses were based on, some were similar, some actual even are based on but changed a bit, mostly 50's.

What apertures are those at? I wish mine was that sharp especially at closer distances. That pic of your daughter is remarkably sharp.

Difficult to remember; the pic @ Airborne was f/4-5.6 I think; the engine was behind glass and I had to use available light + tripod.

My daughter'd pic was f2.8-4 or so, and I made use of the camera's pop-up flash, which works really well on some moments. I really like this lens' rendering of close-up portraits, but I have a kind of love-hate relationship with it.

Focussing must really be spot-on with this lens, because it is really unforgiving and will produce useless stinkers when you miss the target. Other lenses I have are easier, but miss that crispy 3D when you hit bulls-eye, so I prefer to take the risk with the Planar.

Here another two examples.

If you see this chap on full-size you can count the eyelashes and how his hairs interleave. No flash here, just a window behind my back. Planar 50/1.4 @5.6

Here another close-up of my daughter, shot outside with a 580EXII used as a fill-in flash, I believe I used 2.8 here.

Wow! Excellent.
I also like to take the risk with the 85mm, which has even thinner DOF.
