Here a capture from that forthcoming 3x 60min BBC TWO series, working title "Green Planet"
which has been produced by BBC Scotland and will be presented by Prof. Iain Stewart. Airing
date is not yet set, but assumed to be in spring 2012.

(c) BBC London

My UV part will be shown in the "The Science of Plants" section. So what you'll see will be
some of my recent work, for instance Rudbeckia

as well as Hemerocallis, Zinna and Bidens, just to name some.

Well, here's hoping that BBC America picks up on this special soon. I look forward to seeing it, and especially your expert photography, Klaus.

I'll wager that Dr. Stewart will have an interesting take on the battle for dominance between the gymnosperms and angiosperms. If we look at diversity, then the angiosperms are on top, but if we look at staying power, then the nod has to go to the more ancient gymnosperms.

Hi Michael,

usually BBC has a cooperation with Discovery Channel, so most likely it will be shown later also there, so you may be lucky! Funny enough after "Invisible worlds" was aired, a few days later several episodes (incl. mine) was available on YouTube also.

Angiosperms vs. gymnosperms is certainly interesting and of course I expect that to be mentioned. Angiosperms are much more diverse and really conquered the whole earth, but gymnos are much more durable (the oldest trees alive all all of that type).

So, here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00p2f62 is a preview clip called
"The Hidden World of UV" from Episode 2, which will be aired tomorrow, Tuesday 14
at 9pm (GMT/UTC) or 22:00 hours CET (how properly chosen, Valentines day and Flowers!).

The given text reads:
We all know flowers use colour to attract insects. But what isn’t
so widely known is they also deploy extraordinary patterns, invisible
to the human eye. We can’t see ultraviolet light – but insects can.

Professor Iain Stewart uses an ultra-violet camera to reveal the stunning
decorations used by some flowers to attract pollenating insects.

Those shown red images are not mine, I'm sure you'll notice the difference!
