Nice work Bill Very Happy If you need that rewind part I have a spare chrome one. Here is a site with an easy tutorial on cleaning, battery adapters, etc.

You might already have this it's pretty popular. Great little camera. I have never had any luck with the aux. lenses maybe you will.
Best regards
Andy

Andy, thanks for the very nifty link! Very Happy
I went internet spelunking:

http://www.pbase.com/cameras/yashica/electro_35_gt

My main question (yes, belatedly) is if the rewind lever is fudged up,
how does the back door pop open?

So you've tried the aux lenses and had no luck with them? Curious.

Bill

Well...... I can't honestly say I gave the aux lenses a proper trial Wink Once you have them in hand you will see what I mean (they look a bit like pop bottle bottoms). The lens on the cam is so nice on it's own, it seems weird to dress it up so goofy. Hey the good news is you can sell them if you want. I sold a set with a sugar coated description and good photos for $50 on ebay. Although it might be nice to keep the set complete, the kit you bought looks like it's all there.
The door still will open if the knob part of the winder is there to grab. The little handle seems to be suspect and gets lost ( 40 Y/O camera and all).
I hope it works well for you. These are great shooters when they are all tuned up.

Smile

I had the "standard" Electro 35 in Vietnam. Unfortunately it now lies under the Mekong River.

GREAT glass, GREAT camera. A true classic.

THANKS A LOT BILL! Now I've got the Electro 35 on my mind again....why do you do this to me? Laughing

Believe me, Larry, it's not intentional! LOL You could plan a trip to
Vietnam and go snorkeling for it....that'd be fun, wouldn't it? Laughing

This ebay sale comes with the same Bilora tripod I got for $20 (with
shipping) only this one has black instead of aluminum color caps:

Pretty spiffy tripod for an old table model.

Congrats, Bill!
It's a wonderful camera, and you got the full set!
I'm still fixing mine. Instead of buying a battery adapter, I'm building one.
So far I've found a dry old marker with a 16mm body that fits very well into the battery holder. I plan to use the thinner 6V silver-oxyde batteries. The battery fits properly inside the marker body, so I'm just looking for a spring to fill in the free space...
I'll put some pictures as soon as I can finish it.

Best regards, and enjoy your new toy!.
Jes.

I wonder when a digital rangefinder will be released, that does not cost an arm and a leg.

A digital back for my Contax G2 would be fantastic but I suspect it would cost two arms and two legs Rolling Eyes

Carsten, I'll post pics when I receive this. I agree, the black ones are
cool, that is why they always seem to go for more than the black and
chrome.

Hi Bill
The battery is available at most hardware and drug stores, radio slack for sure. Just send me a PM with your address. I think a single postage stamp will cover shipping the crank and screw are small.

LOOKS GOOD ! Is that lens hood stamped "Yashica"? Original ones are hard to find.

Nice buy, Bill. That atom icon is really funny, it reminds me of the Jetsons somehow Laughing

Andy, yep, reads "Yashica" and "Made in Japan" on the rim underneath.

Orio, Laughing I remember the Jetsons too, when I was young. You ever watch that Supermarionation series, Fireball XL-5, way back when?

Too bad, we used to walk around like puppets on strings after watching
it, a riot. Laughing

See what I mean about those aux. lenses Laughing Maybe it's just me they look pretty cheapo. The first set I bought from ebay. I thought they would be really nice like add-on lenses for a TLR. The case looked nice when they arrived then I opened it. Shocked Be careful Yashica made a lot of variations of the Electros. For me it is now an addiction sort of. BTW I of course love the Atom Smile Andy

As for puppets, I remember the Thunderbirds, but I think that it was a British show.
I loved the Thunderbirds. All those hidden submarine bases and missile platforms.
And the chick was hot!!! Laughing

Andy, the lenses do look a little cheesey, but both have the endcaps
which is nice. The case looks like a girl's makeup case, who would be
caught packing this around? Laughing Also has two filters one for BW and
don't know what the other one is for, also no owner's manual, but I
think I can find one on the butkus site.

Fireball XL-5 was like the Thunderbirds and I believe it too, was a Brit
production. Really liked the song that went with it back then, so 50's.
