This is the first mass-produced point and shoot to have autofocus:

leaping duck

100% crop

of this, proud poverty

cheap Walgreens 400 film, Epson scan

Had to replace lightseals and hinge pad, but seems to meter OK.

Your excellent shots prove that the C35 auto (didn't know they had AF version) has a very good lens.....I'd use mine more for a P&S, if it had a built in flash to be more useful (can't be bothered attaching a flash gun to it).

I really like the portrait, although he doesn't seem all that poor to me. He has nicer clothes than I do. Shocked

Excalibur and Jack, thanks for your comments.

Jack, I assure you he's wearing everything he owns. A few things...the
mismatched gloves of different sizes, the overcoat has a big stain on the
back of it, which is probably why it found its way into Goodwill or Salvation
Army, etc. I've seen him going through the dumpsters in the alleys here
in inner city Huntsville, thinking he probably eats at the downtown Mission,
but of course, not sure. That's an FM radio he's listening to, you could hear
the announcer (football game) no, not listening to the stock reports. lol

I find the lens to be a good performer, 2.8/38 focal length. I'll post a pic
of the camera tomorrow.

Not a bad camera by the looks of it.

Poignant portrait, Bill.

Martin and Dave, thanks. Here's a little info on the camera. The one I
have is the original AF, not AF2. I'm impressed by the autofocus method
used, which is based on the optical rangefinder, as mentioned in the
article.

I was messing around taking pics of the cat with the flash and left the
flash popped up when I placed it back in a nylon camera cover and it
happily ran the two AA batteries down to nothing.

Attila, thanks, yep, I'm a Konica fan. Wink

fish4570, thanks for your comment. We do have a few Bamans, now. I'm
a transplant from northern Idaho, not a native. And what is up with this
weather we are having? Shocked

coldest in 25 years when the tennessee froze over. technically, i am a transplant, but i've been here so long (since 1974), might as well call myself an alabamian ... Shocked

My hometown Sandpoint, Idaho has cold weather, but 16F with 10%
humidity is nothing compared to 25F and 75% humidity! Shocked The
cold goes right through you.

Here's a quick and dirty pic of the camera:
