I hope you know them. They don't look very friendly to me Smile

Great series by the way!

Yes, like movie stills with good actors. Excellent result, that's a fine lens you have there Wink

+1
I would not use my Zeiss lens with them, a Takumar is more appropriate Cool

Oh man, you could cut that atmosphere with a knife - excellent captures Wink

Great faces and expressions. If you had added some 16:9 black bars then they could have been screenshots from a Vietnamese movie...

Very nice. Great contrast, vivid colors. Those fellows look like they really mean business, don't they. Not just a game to them, methinks.

thank you everybody for your kind comments!

the last colored one, maybe the most 'acid' one is about how they came out of the cam, the others I had made warmer adding a 'photo filter' in PS.

ha ha ducdao, I understand your concern, thank you for that. These are little gangsters alright, but I do know the boss of the establishment and one of the players ( not shown ) since last year, have been out and around with them, and they are..unique..but very attentive and good people!

your remark made me remind a recent question of Spotmatic, asking how I get 'my' faces. In some situations, like here too, I first try to keep the camera inside it's bag much longer than I wished and try to gain at least some familiarity with the characters around. When I take out the camera I ask for permission, and if only by holding up the camera with a questioning expression, looking at one of the more strong personalities around. Sometimes someone opposes but may leave the scene for a while to give me the chance for some pics. Most importantly I try to be very sensitive to the atmosphere, may again store the camera away soon to take a beer, a fag, and do some joking and possibly go for another round of pics later.

ha, I never have added any frame to any of my pics yet Shocked
but in Hanoi I got to know someone running a framing business with a small gallery offering artwork. They had asked me if I wanted to expose some of my photos. Sure I do, so I printed about 30 photos 20x30 and..saw some of them, for first time any of my photos, framed, properly framed, with passepartout / mat..and WOW Peter, that does look great!

well spotted Michael! They had played for money. A very unique kind of pool with little pins set out around the table, downing them gave various points, very difficult game. I never had watched anyone play as well as they did, and they played fast!..which makes me a bit proud having caught these few pics Wink

best greetings,
Andreas
