Oh, I hope that's not just a dream, but a someday reality! I can always
take a military flight into Rome...(very, very cheap, think "obscene")

Milano (if available) would be much nearer to here.
Although Rome is 100.000 times a more beautiful place.
You can actually meet Tiziano there!
Other options may be also Pisa (there is Camp Darby there) or Vicenza (another NATO base). Both reasonably near.

Near Camp Darby there is a beautiful pineta (pine tree forest)

I'm fairly knowledgeable about the "Stargates" to SEA, but not to Europe.
Will be checking with friends that make trips via MAC flights to Europe
and see what they have to say.

Wonderful light, and very sharp. How do you get your cat to sit still. My cat is like our children, show up with a camera and they run. Laughing

Like my bird If I would take a photo from her camera is more interest than just posing. In the last few months I could catch just flying grey spots. Shocked

Well, it was a lucky day. I shot 7 pics of the cat and 4 were definite
keepers and one that might be OK. Not bad for manual focus. Ask me
how many fish shots I shoot and keep, and this with using AF on a Canon Powershot! In the first pic he was looking at a bird up in a tree near the
back porch. So I got that one while he was distracted. Wink

Manual shoot is not easy with Olympus 4/3 cameras at all. I miss really focus confirmation.

Thanks, Roy! Smile

Attila, I have no problem focusing outside, but indoors is a whole new
ballgame. I'm seriously considering getting the ME-1 attachment to
magnify my shots indoors. I like this camera, maybe because it's an
underdog to the big guys, but I've had some satisfying results so far.

Here's a series from this set where I had maybe 5-6 seconds to take
all three, the cat is tracking a bird that finally lands in a tree, the 3rd
shot:

Two of these shots are the nonkeepers, but this illustrates quick focus
outdoors is no problem.

I am sure I couldn't be make a sharp photo with Olympus E-300, you are really clever. One times I tried Olympus E-500 viewfinder was too small and dark to me for manual focusing. I bought Olympus E-1 because it has bright viewfinder , but still want AF confirmation as well. Even if I use Katz-Eye split screen.

Yup, I'm enjoying it immensely! Wink TDN, since you've joined the
gang, do you have a first name? If you're wanted by INTERPOL or
something, I understand. Laughing

Are you using the E-300, too?

Laughing

The name's Tom, I just forget to put it under there most of the time Rolling Eyes

I'm using a Pentax *ist DL, but I remember how glad I was when I got it last year. Especially those first months of "exploring" a new camera are always a lot of fun Smile
