I just receive this mint lens for 134 euros on the bay
I take it because it have a high serial number and I like it for the beach
Of course it have nothing to do with the king planar 85 1.4

sorry for the model but I had no time for hunt today Confused

Wow, this is a real strike poilu!
A MM Germany copy serial 84.... for a less price than what usually AE copy sell for !!! Shocked

Also, another peculiarity... note it's written "made in Germany", this means the lens is post-1989 ! It is the first and so far only Contax lens that I saw, that was made in Germany and not in West Germany!
OK this is only a collectioner issue, but... it's cute to have one like that.

As for the quality of the lens... I rank it very high - not lower than the Planar 1.4/85, just different.

Thanks dr Klaus!

I didn't notice the 'West' was missing! I was just surprised to see a so high number from Germany
I 'strike' this lens for this price because the title on ebay was 'Carl Zeiss Sonnar 2,8/35mm Contax neuwertig Top-Zustand' Wink

I just checked the resolution @ 2.8 and the planar is not better.
I don't know if it is just in my mind but I believe that the planar 'pop' more in portrait.
I will have the occasion to investigate more now that I have the lens.

It's certainly a Scandinavian language - not sure if Swedish Danish or Norwegian though. Our Scandinavian members will surely shed a light on that soon.

I won this lens before 1 month (post slow in summer) and twice in the past my best bargains never came.
For this one I was lucky it was advertised as 35mm and the seller was German

The Sonnar 85 is a big wonder in a small package.
You would never tell how great lens this is by looking at the aspect.

poilu

Completely amazing sets - the lens is clearly one of the greats, but your eye is even better. Thanks for the outdoor entertainment series.

I agree, the third in the series is ready for any photo candid contest, worth of publication on any magazine.
