The wide open sharpness is ok, I'll grant you that, but where is the nice bokeh?...The DOF at f1.7 is so deep its useless for anything other than shots of buildings and flowerpots

you didn't read page 2, otherwise you could see this lens is also good for cats Laughing

Nevermind the lens. Amazing focusing skill wide open!

How did this thread come back to life?

DSG wake it to declare that a 50:1.7 on full frame don't give enough bokeh
a 50:1.7 on FF give the same bokeh as a 35:1.2 on crop so it is quite usable
while 1.4 and faster lenses are often preferred, the 1.7 can be found quite cheap for Zeiss quality & 3D

Are you using hood on your lens? I see differences in contrast when the sun is behind you.
Excellent anyway, it's just curiosity.

thanks!
second with motorbike had more vignetting (that I correct), sky is almost white and look indeed different from first
I think that the differences come from the position of the sun and that a hood would not help
but I am not sure because I never use hood on my contax lenses Laughing

Is very noticeable lack of hood. If I may, I would say that a hood is essential. Without it the image has a white veil.
Great lens, congratulations.
