That is a shame! Look instead an Exakta EOS adapter and keep this lens in original state don't do barbarian mount conversion.

Aha, maybe you are right in your case. It is not about shame, my theory is to use the lens to explorer its exellent optics and do not care about how it looks like.

Not many lens available from these ones to ruin them ... not a right behaviour in my opinion. To convert a common lens ok so many available , but a rare ones that is different story.

Attila
I suspect that will prove to be a steal of a price. The lens is a beautiful work of art in its own right. And you say it is like new! Wow. Please please show us samples.

Imagine a looks mint lens from 1940... and this lens didn't make any time in large series. So I am more than happy! I will share some shoots as far as I have time to take it and we will have sunny days.

We have had non-stop snow and rain for the past three weeks. It's getting boring and I have so much to try out, so I know how you feel

Congratulations, Attila! How nice is that to get a lens that you have been looking for for a while! Great.

And yes, Exaklaus is one of the sellers I would buy an expensive lens from. He has got a great name within German collectors!
(I was bidding on several of his items but have been outbid each time.)

I have a just a few quite expensive lenses, all of them Leica. These include a Leica Summicron 35mm, TeleElmarit 90mm and Summicron 50mm all from the 1980s decade and a 90mm Elmarit from around 1960 all in excellent condition. I paid in the region of Australian $800 - $1000 for each about 10-15 years ago. (Each Aus dollar is around 90 cents US.) Not sure what they are worth today. Some have held their value some have not. I also bought a lovely Summicron 50mm in close focus mount with "eyes" about 10 years ago. I got this cheap (around $500 Australian) even though it's near mint but I hope it would be worth somewhat more. Time was I could be sure of this but M lenses seem to have dropped a bit as people have moved to digital cameras. Maybe they will pick up again with Leica making a digital M. I have some other Leica glass but all somewhat cheaper /older but never the less nice to use. (eg Summarit and Summitar 50s and 35mm Summarons in both screw and M mount.) . All my other lenses - Nikon Pentax and Canon were relatively cheap, usually no more than a couple of hundred or so. But price does not equate to joy of use and I enjoy them all.

A couple of examples, for fun.

Style, beauty, workmanship -- all at their best.

Capability -- at its best.

Works of art Peter. There are a few marques that just carry that aura of "best" - and Leica is one of them.

G'day Attila, you wouldn't happen to be the new owner of a 300mm Tamron (Tamaron) by any chance?

PostPosted: Tue Feb 05, 2008 5:23 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Thanks guys. They are nice enough (although I must say that a good camera pic is a bit like a good glamour pic - you cannot see the minor flaws that only I know about!) I find myself using digital more and more for the convenience but keep these because I still use them occasionally and just love their quality. I hope to get back into using them more regularly and know that if I ever sell I would immediately regret it. I would love an M8 or Epson digital and maybe one day will treat myself but I already own a Nikon D70s and Panaosnic L1 so cannot justify it right now. One day maybe! Its amazing though how much "stuff" you collect over the years. I first got serious about cameras maybe in 1993 and after that for a while it was like a disease and I spent a lot of money quickly. That has slowed down now but even if I make say one major aquisition a year a a few small ones it still adds up if you do not sell, and by nature I am a hoarder. I like to buy and keep.
