Probably mostly of interest for videographers using the Panasonic AF-AG100 or Sony NEX-VG10 given their price.

3900$ ... Twisted Evil One question though: what's the difference between these and, let's say, the Z series?

What is the advantage of this CP.2 lens compare to the other Zeiss lens?

They are build with cinema standards.
This means super high quality construction, super smooth high precision focusing ring build to really last a lifetime.

Thanks Orio. I can easily imagine what you mean with smooth & high precision focusing ring, a bit less easily with higher construction standards. But twice or thrice the price??? I mean, you can obviously always do better, but here, I compare to the Zeiss Z series, so already state of the art gear. These are already supposed to be super high construction (OK, maybe subject to wear on the focusing ring after 5 days of usage Wink ). No? I mean, one could start to question whether it's worth spending 1000+ bucks in such a lense...

You can always buy the nikon mount version and use an adapter.
Of course people who shoot movies instead of still photos would appreciate smoother and absolutely precise focusing action.

There's a brochure on the zeiss website that gives the features of the lenses ( I can't seem to view it on the zeiss website but you can view it with google quick view if you search for CompactPrimeLensesCP2_Brochure_EN.pdf)
