I bought this lens for a friend in Japan in July 2008, and the same day he purchased his copy in Finland. Heard the news when I got back to home, but I decided to keep the lens in favor of selling it for a profit (despite customs it cost me half the price it costs over here).

Never regretted a single day keeping it. It is one fantastic performer, which can stretch from close-up portraits to landscape use. Best 85mm available for Nikon, though differences are limited to performance wide open and even then they are small (but in favor of the Zeiss).

These pics are all taken with the Planar T* 85/1.4 ZF. At the time, I was not planning on keeping the lens, therefore just casually snapping mediocre postcards and test pics. Getty liked many of these so they're now for sale there Laughing (which is also why some of these are reduced quality and watermarked). All hand-held, some with slower than 1/80s shutter. Meditation helps improve camera technique, I can see it especially when pixel-peeping the pictures I took while staying in Koya-san.

I can see why Getty wanted those: well-thought compositions, which fit the subjects perfectly, and a moody atmosphere.

I love the uninformal composition of the portrait of your wife on the couch (bed?).

Thank you everyone! I wish to be able to return to Japan this July, but now it seems like work is going to replace meditation and monastries Sad

Manual focus lenses was the best I brought to (and from) Japan. The more thoughtful shooting style is better suited for holy places like these.

Orio, she is a wonderful woman, many times I wonder why she chose a broke photographer Laughing and not someone else. She likes very few of the photos I take of her, this is one of them Smile
