A few months back, I came up on a wildfire in central Wyoming. I've just got around to processing them.
Luckily I had two cameras along. I had a Nex 5n with my Tair 3 300mm F4.5 Preset mounted to it and my D600 with a 50mm F1.8G lens.
It was near sunset and the low light, with the very heavy smoke made for some somewhat difficult photography. The fully manual Tair 3 didn't make it any easier
Hope you like them.

I agree, superb shots under difficult conditions. If I was nit-picking I would say they would be even better with more blur on the rotor blades of the helicopter! _________________ "I've got a Nikon camera, I like to take a photograph" - Paul Simon |

Thanks! Yeah, I should have used a little slower shutter speed. The thing is, the Nex 5n has no stabilization, so I like to keep around a 1/500th shutter speed for the 300mm lens (equivalent to 450mm in FF). |

Thank you. That Tair lens makes it pretty easy to get great photos though. It is my favorite 300mm lens. |

The last image in the group. A surprise sort of landscape. All of the elements are balanced, and it's just plain gorgeous. _________________

Amazing series! My favorites are the first (for the sense of motion) and the last (for the lighting) but all are superb. You capture the arid mountain west perfectly. |
