Went for a little 4 mile hike (2 miles in to the beach and 2 miles out)with my camera today. Actually went after (not during) work, for a change. Got a few decent shots. I will try and list the lens (if I can remember Shocked ) There are several more miles of trails in this park, I will be back again Cool

Nikkor-Q 4/200
Groundhog in front of den

Nikkor-Q 4/200
Egret in marsh

Nikkor-HC 1.8/85
Skink on stump

(probably Nikkor-HC 1.8/85)
Squirrel in tree

(probably Nikkor-HC 1.8/85)
Turtle on log

When I got to the beach, I walked within 2 feet of this snake. It was in the surf where the water meets the beach. I used more contrast on these shots to try and show the markings better. It is between 3 and 4 feet in length.

I concur. My preferred one also for the very same reason. Its colors are also magnificent.

Nice set Mike. My fav is the squirrel.

Any idea what kind of snake?

Thanks guys!

I wish the skink would have been facing me, but you have to take what nature gives you. I snapped a few shots and then tried to reposition myself and it scooted away. I saw it on the way back, but it ran as quick as it saw me (must of been female Very Happy )

I think the snake is a Northern Water Snake, but not 100% sure.

This was a fun walk!
