The NX are impressive, especially for their cost. I have an NX100 I bought brand new for 179ukp with the excellent 20-50 kit lens. The IQ is easily as good as my NEX-3 and the lens is as good as many old manual primes too.
Branding is important, one reason why the Apple iphone and ipad does so well, although Samsung are doing well in the smartphone and tablet markets.
This is why Cosina bought the rights to the Voigtlander name - I am sure their lenses would be less well respected if they were still labelling them Cosinons.
Imagine if Samsung had licensed a good name such as Contax and instead of it being the Samsung NX series it was the Contax NX series.
The 2/30 lens is less than 100ukp and a stunning performer. Of course, many won't respect it because it says Samsung on it. Sony get round this problem by licensing the Zeiss name, Samsung have in the past with Schneider too, maybe they should have branded this 2/30 lens as a Schneider, but that of course would have put the price up to cover the licensing costs. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

The brand names change hands regularly though, Samsung sold a clone of the Pentax K10 and K20, and the Scneider name is on my Pentax kit lens. _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

I have Samsung and I love it, why obvious choice NEX over Samsung ? Samsung NX has much less compatibility with MF lenses.
Avarage Joe look brand advanced users look compatibility , high ISO performance , focusing with MF lenses. Sony is better at all area. _________________ -------------------------------

Here's some NEX shots, the look is different to Samsung NX100, certainly colours are different, not sure how else they differ but the output is different looking to my eyes.
Of course, I very rarely have bright sunshine to shoot in, unlike Istanbul So that does make a difference too. We didn't really have a summer this year here in England so I'm struggling to find NEX samples in bright sunlight.

Really hated the EVF add-on. The only thing worse is the EVF in my current NX11 I really struggle to use the NX11 with manual lenses, but I suspect it will work much better with NX lenses _________________ Graham - Moderator
