So, back to latest lens to the collection.
Well, mine is for a large format camera that I have started making.
It covers 4X5 easily and may well cover 8X10 with very little movement.
Fujinon W 180mm f5.6

#1

Did I miss photos of your camera?

The lens and Copal #1 shutter is an awesome-looking instrument!

Thank you - no I haven't completed the camera yet.
I do have a 4X5 Horseman, and with a different lens board, this 180mm lens will fit it, but I am building a 10X8 camera which it will also fit with limited movements.
I'll post some pictures when it's finished - could be a while Smile
Interestingly, the lens is a short telephoto on 4X5 and a wide angle on 10X8
Tom

With this lens arriving I now have all m-series manual zooms (ran out of rear caps as well)

That is quite an achievement.
Well done

I received these two lenses, the Xenon was with this Exakta model V in still running condition.

This Ritagon lens is the same as the Enna Lithagon and Sandmar 28/3.5 lenses. This is an earlier example of the lens before they first went to the Sockel system, and later a non-metallic lens body fabrication. It's not labelled Enna anywhere on the lens, but came in a lens case marked Enna.

Those are rare birds, never even seen them before.

I have the Xenon 1.9/50 in DKL for Retina - one of my all-time favourite lenses. I also have the earlier 2.0/50 and 2.8/50 Xenons, removed from broken fixed lens cameras, still need to adapt them. I have the SL 1.8/50 too, every bit as good as it's 1.8/50 HFT Planar compatriot.

I also finally completed my custom Fujinon FX - L mount adapter, made from a teleconverter with the interior (violently) removed, and the mount machined off, with an L mount thin adapter epoxied on. Fortunately the flange distance is more or less correct by chance, with the ability to go just past infinity. I had to epoxy in a tab to operate the aperture lever, as well as used some black nail paint to darken the interior of the adapter. I have 3 Fuji FX mount normal lenses, and a generic zoom somewhere too.

I also just pulled the trigger on another of their normal lenses this morning:

I have the 1.6/50 (two copies, one in Porst livery) and it is a very good lens with loads of character. For my money however, the earlier, larger 1.6/55 is the better lens.

Hard to find most of the other X-Fujinons, I only have the 28 and 35mm and both are very good. The 1.9/50 and 2.2/55 never struck me as being any great shakes, the 2.2 is an interesting 4/4 Unar type formula.

Nice lenses. I have all those as well. Especially fond of X-Fujinon EBC 55mm f1.6. Better rendering and bokeh than the newer 50mm f1.6. Porst/Fuji 50mm f1.2 is good as well.

I like X-Fujinon 135mm f2.5 - one of my favourite 135mm of that era. Much better than both X-Fujinar 135mm f2.8 or X-Fujinon 135mm f3.5/ But very rare. In fact there are lots of X-Fujinars - made by Comine, which aren't bad but nowhere near X-Fujinon f2.5.
X-Fujinon 100mm f2.8 is not bad as well.

cheers guys
No tripod - and my big old slik SL67 needs some diy, the head attachment screw is loose.
This is more like a 5" refractor, so I intend to do a bit of stargazing etc. I already have the dedicated pentax monocular which gives 50x and first views look sharp with no great fringing, but the project is to make an adaptor to attach my opticron eyepieces.
It's for long range photography with a CFD of 30m (!) so I'll try it out on the Ospreys down at Glaslyn, for example.

Totally awesome! Stiff enough. Wow with monocular. Adapted to eyepieces should be interesting. Sitting Ospreys, of course. Smile

Just don't take that thing anywhere near any public events like joe Biden's visit to Belfast - you might get your head blown off for going equppped with what looks like some kind of evil rocket launcher or similar. lol

I save my novoflex for that game Ian - looks exactly the part!

Great stuff- it seems like there's enough flange distance to stick a telescope diagonal/erecting prism, and that's *before* noting part of the rear can come off to attach threaded filters.

But I think you probably realised that already lol.

A second Sigma for my 28-50mm project. A much better copy. Livery is slightly different from the first one.

Darn, if in the UK, I was bidding on that also.. Like Dog

Not a lens, but happy to add this one to the collection. Diagrams, MTF, vignetting and spectrum transmission(!) charts for Adaptall-1 lenses circa 1973. On the one hand, I wish there were the later ones present. On the other hand, without digging through Popular photography etc magazines on internet archive, I get an understanding of what Tamron lenses were marketed circa 1973. And that's quite useful.

Now, all those photos show the entirety of the booklet's lens pages... but not up close, of course.

Additionally, I'm not made of money - the cost for this one item is quite high. But I found this pretty unique and the exactly the sort of thing I want to collect and scan in. I probably wouldn't do it again unless I found an equivalent for Makinon, Samyang, Osawa, Toyo Optical etc.

Now I have a three way head, and good lighting, and a sorted out spreadsheet, I am close to starting to scan these.

Ah - no worries.

Given the speed I would be interested in some wide open pics at both ends.

There are some here (but only at 50mm) CFD is .5m so a bit long for close ups. https://www.flickr.com/photos/randomdump/albums/72177720300372551

Quick comparison First Sigma, Second Pentax-m 28mm F2.8 (Looks like the Pentax is a bit faster as it measured 1/200 and the Sigma 1/160) but that is probably due to the transmission factor
