I have a copy of Supreme for some years. It is supposed to be a lens with very good resolution on wide open as shown on the ads below. I will test mine later when it is less hot here.

I built a nested cardboard box for a huge process lens. To focus looked through a hole in the lens board to a sheet of printer paper pasted on the back wall where the film/focus screen would go. A camera with closeup lens could just as easily photograph the paper through the hole. To me the image was much clearer than with ground glass focus screen.

Some years ago I've seen one at a Zurich photo store - but didn't care to test/buy it since distortion seems top be quite high. At that time I was doing a lot of architecture for a >600 page book on Zurich churches, and i was using the Nikkor AiS 3.5/35-70mm if a zoom in that range was needed (Nikkor distortion <1> 2.5% as far as I rememember).

These don't come up very often, I've had a search for it for a while. It's a name badged Tamron Model 360, and looks to be #730 made. Released in 1960, the same year as their 58mm F/1.2 lens, it looked to be from a period when Tamron were trying to make a name for themselves. It was made until 1969. With 5 elements in 3 groups, I am curious to find out what kind of images it can make. |
