Thanks for sharing Boris, good and useful test

What a big difference the lens turbo can make in the FOV!
Also it is obvious that in both there is dramatic improvements in contrast and sharpness stopped down slightly
How do you see wide open images after editing?

Also to my eye (I don't look at every detail) there isn't significant difference sharpness and contrast using the Turbo
Does it affects the defocused background (bokeh), apart from the obvious effect on the field of view

GAS is kicking in for one now Wink

Those pictures are quite old, the lenses (& the lens turbo) are long sold and the X-E1 is in my father's custody.
I never used the wide angles much (with or without the lens turbo), I always prefered the Fuji 18-55/2.8-4. The lens turbo ended up permanently attached to my MC50/1.4.
I never really liked the controls on the X-E1 and as my Minolta collection grew, the A7 made more and more sense...

BTW, that's the first version of the Zhongyi lens turbo, the later versions are better. Here are some more test shot I made back then.
MC58/1.2 (w/o lens turbo) vs Vivitar S1 90/2.5 (with lens turbo --> 65/1.8): https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaktuskontrafaktus/sets/72157648665163670
MC35/1.8 (w/o lens turbo) vs MC58/1.2 (with lens turbo --> 41/0.85): https://www.flickr.com/photos/kaktuskontrafaktus/sets/72157648655432267

While I'm here, I just picked up something on ebay, my Canon (n)FD lineup keeps growing...

(Canon nFD 24mm f/2.8)

I ended up paying 52€, seems like a good price. I'd rather have the 24/2 but that one tends to be quite expensive.
I'll probably end up with the 20-35/3.5L (rather than 20/2.8 + 24/2), until then the 24/2.8 might do (I'll see how it compares to my Minolta 24/2.8).

WOW indeed, especially the 21/2, you're just missing the 90/2 macro.

Thanks! I'm excited.

A Yashica Tominon Yashinon-R 100/2.8 in Pentamatic mount, it's the sibling to my 35/2.8 that I love, it's focus ring feels Takumar smooth, and being a preset, just makes it all the more lovely to use.
I'm not quite reaching infinity with the adapter I modified for the 35/2.8, so I will do more testing to determine if it's worth modding a new adapter for it.
Also:
SMC Pentax M 50/1.4 (this compleats my 50/1.4 Takumar/Pentax collection, other than the SMC Tak that I don't want) (8 element ST, 7 element ST, S-M-C, K, M, & A)
Konica AR 135/3.5
Yashica ML 50/2 (my 2nd, the first was fungus infested, and can't be cleaned)
Hanimar 135/3.5 preset M42
All for $65

I see you own one of my "dream" lenses -- the Tamron 180/2.5 LDIF. Very nice!

What s the Nikkor lens on the left, 200/f2?

PostPosted: Mon Nov 14, 2016 4:23 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

A compact Pentax 28-50/3.5 zoom lens, and a Minolta 50/3.5 macro lens.
Is the silver nose Canon FD 50/1.4 a very early one?

Is the silver nose Canon FD 50/1.4 a very early one?

Silver nose FD was the first generation of FD lenses(1971), it was followed by the SSC line(1973) and then the nFD(1979).

My Canon nFD 100/2 & 24/2.8 have arrived:

nFD 300/5.6 | nFD 100/2 | nFD 50/1.4 | nFD 35/2 | nFD 28/2 | nFD 24/2.8

One of these three is going to have to go...

Both the nFD 2.8/24mm as well as the nFD 2/100mm are very nice lenses - congratulations Wink

I guess a nFD 2/135mm, nFD 2.8/200 IF or an nFD 4/200mm (IF or Macro) would nicely fill the gap betwenn 100mm and 300mm ...

The nFD 24/2.8 is mostly a cost saving measure. If it's close enough to the Minolta MD24/2.8, I'll sell that one and pocket the difference. I wouldn't say no to an nFD 24/2 but I think the best fit for me would be the nFD 20-35/3.5 L (replacing the 24/2.8 & 28/2).
The 24's focus ring is rather stiff, it doesn't feel quite as cheap as the nFD28/2.8 or nFD50/1.8 but it's a noticable step down from my other nFD lenses. I really like the 100/2 though, it still feels well-balanced on the A7 (unlike the Samyang 85).
The 135/2 is too large & heavy for my taste (I've got a Soligor 135/2 here, I'd rather avoid lugging around something of that size), I might give the nFD 200/4 IF a try but I never use my MD200/4 since I got the MD75-150/4. I think the nFD 80-200/4 L might be a good fit for me.

I'm setting up a test scene right now, I think a comparison between the MD85/2, nFD100/2 & Samyang 85/1.4 might be of some interest around here...

(nFD 100/2 @ f/2)

While I'm curious how the MD85 & nFD100 compare, it's already decided that the MD85 is going on sale along with most of my Minolta glass. The MC50/1.4 &MD75-150/4 are staying and I'll keep the MD24/2.8 around at least until I've done a comparison with the nFD24/2.8.

I've had it for quite a few years now, it's one of my favourites though I admit between the mamiya 150mm f2.8 and nikon 80-200mm f2.8, I've not used it as much this last year.

That's a 300mm f2.8 AI-s

I have the 20-35L; both the 80-200L and the 100-300L will follow soon. I'll post some images.

Got this today for a song. This was the easiest lens I've ever taken apart. The glass has cleaning marks and isn't perfect but the lens is in great condition body-wise. Probably gonna pass it along as I don't need another 135 2.8 but nice to come across a rarer lens for a good deal.

Nikkor AiS 35mm 1:1.4 - to my surprise, the venerable MC-Rokkor 35mm 1:1.8 has a better contrast (at f1.8 ...) than the Nikkor at f2, and it has less CA than the Nikkor. Bokeh is quite different as well.
